CommunicAID Hosted Dinner and Mentoring Gala for Homeless

The first annual gala provided the homeless with dinner and advice for succeeding

BALTIMORE, Sept. 20, 2017 – CommunicAID hosted 200 people, including 100
homeless individuals, on Sept. 17, at the first annual Communicate and Aid Yourself
Gala, dedicated to providing those in need with dinner and a mentorship. Previous
CommunicAID clients, who used to be homeless but are no longer, mentored the
gala. The gala was founded to help the local community and gain donations for
CommunicAID, and the event raised $10,000 to help shelter, feed and assist
homeless people living in Baltimore.

The mentorship portion of the event included one-on-one mentors giving

inspiration and advice on how they were able to overcome their personal hardships,
get jobs and become who they are now. Mentors also gave their mentees resources
and contacts to further assist them in overcoming their hardships.

“The gala was a huge success, we were able to help a lot of people in need,” said
Suzanna J. McGarth, President of CommunicAID. “I cannot wait for this event to
expand in future years so we can raise more money to help out more people in
need.”

Local restaurant owner Louie Dazzi, of Dazzi’s Restaurant, donated the food for the
event, and also mentored for it too. Before getting help from CommunicAID, Dazzi
was homeless, but, with the aid from this program, he was able to become an
entrepreneur.

“I’ve been in their position, I know what it’s like to be homeless,” Dazzi said. “I just
want to give back to the organization who has done so much for me. They helped me
get my life together. If I did it, then anyone can.”

With the donations received from the gala, CommunicAID projects that they will be
able to house, feed and help find jobs for up to 200 more homeless people in the
next year.
