A. Removal, reinstallation of heat exchanger, BEHR heater box up to

approx.05/90

P83-0070-57

Ground lead on battery disconnect, reconnect.

Coolant drain and refill - antifreeze chart (20-010). After
filling, check cooling system for leaks (20-017).
Supply (554) and return hoses (575, 568) disconnect, blow residual coolant out of heat
exchanger with compressed air.
Instrument panel remove, reinstall (68-100).
Cover (57) remove, 2 screws (58), 6 clips (56).
Clamp (54) unclip.
Double clamp (55) unclip.
Screws (22) remove, fit.

Pipes (52, 51, 53) on heat exchanger disconnect, reconnect, prise
off heat exchanger, press in, swing away to the
right or left top.
Heat exchanger (23) pull out, install at the top, renew 3 sealing
rings (21).
Heater box clean from the inside, remove any spilled
coolant.

For handling coolants see repair instructions

Installation note
Check the cooling system for leaks after filling it
with coolant.

Supply (554) and return hoses (575, 568) disconnect, blow residual coolant out of heat

Heater box remove (83-100)

Cover (57) remove, 2 screws (58), 6 clips (56)
Clamp (54) unclip.
Double clamp (55) unclip.
Screws (22) remove.
Install in the reverse sequence.

C. Removal, reinstallation of heat exchanger, VALEO heater box

P83-0071-57

Heater box remove/reinstall (83-100).

Screw (58) turn out, turn in on supply and return hoses and
side panel, left.
Control cable engage/disengage from main air flap (236). To
do so prise off clip (125) from above, clip on.

Clip (56) prise off, clip on, 5 on top, 2 on each side and
below.
Heater box part (59) remove, refit.
Heat exchanger (23) remove together with supply and return pipes
from heater box front part, reinstall; ensure
correct seat of rubber grommets (80, 81).
Supply (51) and return pipes (52, 53) remove, replace seal rings (21), reinstall.
