Step 1: How to find and purchase items

Search and Browse

To begin finding items on DHgate, first decide whether you want to Search or Browse.
Each method has its advantages, depending on what you're looking for.

Search

If you're looking for a specific item, Search is the better option.


View Item Listings

When you use the Search box, a menu of listings appears. In this view, all listings
have a title, and photos to help you find what you want.

C. Seller Information

You can get the information about the seller in the Seller Information Box. The most
important information is Seller Trust Score. On the right side, you can see the Seller
Trust Score. Click the score to see the comments on this seller left by other buyers.
Click X to close the window.

D. Check the price, quantity requirement and shipping fee

1. Item cost

Price: Usually you will see a price range, in this case USD 75.38 – 96.90 piece. The
actual price is dependent on the quantity ordered. In general, the more you buy the
more you save.

2. Shipping Cost

Please check the shipping details carefully and pay special attention to:
>Shipping discounts and delivery time
>Shipping methods (UPS, EMS, FedEx, etc.)

For the detailed shipping cost, please click the "Calculate shipping costs"

Then calculator will calculate the shipping cost. You can choose one that best suits

Step 3: Purchase Flow

Simple Check-out Process

1. You place an order at www.DHgate.com


2. When you make a payment to DHgate, we will hold the payment until you
authorize us to release the payment to the seller.
3. If the seller accepts the order, he or she needs to prepare the merchandise
within the specified processing time. Once the merchandise is shipped, you will
be notified with the tracking information by email.
4. When you receive the merchandise, remember to carefully check the quality
and quantity of the item(s).

2. My Orders

The "My Orders" list all of your DHgate orders. All your orders on DHgate are
archived as per the order status, for example, awaiting payment (2) means you have
two unpaid orders. Click on the link to see order details. DHgate lists your recent
orders in the middle of "My DHgate" page so you can get important information at a
glance.

In order to buy an item, you must first log in.


- If you have already registered with us. Please log in. Enter your email address and
password, click "Sign in & Check out" button.

- If you haven't registered, click "Creat my account" on your right. complete the
simple application and click "Sign up & Check out" button.

 Fill in Shipping Address


If the billing address is not the same as shipping address, please fill in the
billing address.

 Choose Shipping Method

The shipping cost & delivery time are different between different shipping methods.
Choose the one that best suits you.

 Payment and Confirmation

Complete and confirm your order information before proceeding to checkout.

 Pay for your order

There are four available payment options on DHgate.

• PayPal

 Shipment of Item

1) After DHgate has confirmed the receipt of payment, the seller starts to process the
items and ship out items in given processing time.
2) After the items are shipped, the seller submits the shipping tracking number, and
you can track the status online.

3) If your items are too large to hold in one parcel, the seller may put them into
several packages, so please take note whether the sellers have shipped out all that
you ordered.

 Complete your order and leave Feedback

When you receive the items, please check the items as soon as possible, to make
sure the quality and quantity of the items are right, etc. If all works well, please
complete order and leave feedback for your order.

Disputes

DHgate understands that it is definitely not a pleasant experience to have a problem


with a transaction. Anyway, if it happened, DHgate recommends the easiest ways to
resolve the problem:

Should you have a dispute, follow the steps:

• Report a dispute: You are able to open a dispute on the 4th day after
seller submits the tracking number for your order.

• Communicate with the seller: and try to reach an agreement with


seller.

• Escalate the dispute to DHgate: If the dispute is not resolved, you


are able to escalate the case by submitting it to DHgate from 11th business
day after dispute is opened. By doing so, you request DHgate to be an
impartial judge.

Policies

(A) If the package is not received:

1.Tracking number is invalid

• If DHgate (neither buyer nor seller) fails to track a package via an


online tracking system provided by the carrier, the seller bears full
responsibility and has to pay all related costs.

2.The package is held at the customs

• If the item is retained for reasons concerning authenticity, the seller is


responsible for the refund and has to pay all the related costs.

• If the item is at customs because the buyer has not paid the related
custom duties, or the buyer did not obtain the necessary import license, it is
the buyer's responsibility to pay the customs duties and all related costs.

3. The package is returned


• If there is a mistake in the address provided by the buyer, the buyer is
responsible for the shipping fees and related costs.

• If the seller misspelled the address, the seller is responsible for paying
shipping fees and related costs.

(B) If the received item isn't what you expected

1. If a buyer is not satisfied with the received item and likes to get full refund, he
should return the item and provide us with tracking number within 5 business days
after the dispute is submitted to DHgate. Once the seller and DHgate confirm the
delivery of the returned item, refund will be arranged. It's buyer's responsibility to
pay all the incurred shipping fees and custom duties, if any. The seller is responsible
for all custom duties incurred at the seller's country.

How to use my coupon

When you are going to pay your order, check whether you have available coupon and
check the detailed information about the coupon. If you have coupon, please choose
the coupon code and select the order you want to redeem the coupon.

About Product Reviews
As a part of the DHgate.com feedback system, product reviews system enables you
to submit reviews for any products you purchased on DHgate.com to help other
buyers make purchase decisions. For guidelines on how to create reviews and use
this feedback system, please read below.
(Note: These reviews are products-based, not sellers-based.)

Creating Reviews
To post your own review on a product, you must have completed the purchase of this
product. Your review will appear on the product detail page after it’s submitted.

Here’s how to create a review:


Step 1:
Sign into your DHgate.com account and visit “My DHgate”.
(Note: You must have completed the purchase of the product before creating a
review on it.)
Step 2:
Click the “My Reviews” button in the My Account section on the left navigation; then
you will see a list of items awaiting your reviews. See below:
Step 3:Choose the item you want to review by pressing the “Write a review” button
on the “My Reviews” page. Rate on a 5-star scale for the item and enter your
comment in the box provided. See below:

Step 4:
Preview your review and press the “Submit review” button.

Buyer Ratings
Buyer Ratings allow you to share your opinion on the product’s general information
including its quality, features and whatever you think is important, and make a rating
on a 5-star scale. Five full stars indicate the highest level of your product quality,
feature or expectation, and one star indicates the lowest.

Seeing Reviews
Here’s how to see the reviews left by other buyers.
Step 1:
Visit the product detail page of the item on DHgate.com
Step 2:
Click the “Product reviews” tab; you will see a list of other buyers’ reviews on the
product.

What is Escrow service?

Escrow service is a licensed buyer protection system. DHgate will receive and hold
buyer's payment till the transaction is successfully completed. Only after buyer
approves the items received, will DHgate releases the payment to the seller.

Why do I need Escrow?

It's just safer! DHgate reduces the potential risk of fraud by acting as a third party
that collects, holds and sends a buyer's money to a seller according to transactions
completed on by both the buyer and seller.

How buyers are protected:

• The buyer sends payment to DHgate.com rather than directly to the seller.
• DHgate.com informs the seller to dispatch the item.

• The buyer tracks the delivery of the item by using "My DHgate".

• Once the buyer confirms receipt of the item and press "Complete order" in "My
DHgate", DHgate.com will send payment to the seller to complete the transaction.

Paying with PayPal


1. PayPal enables you to send payments quickly and securely online using a credit card or
bank
account.
2. When you select PayPal as the payment method, you go to the PayPal site, where you
can send your
payment.

Advantages:
• Payment is traceable. You can trace the status of your payment using your PayPal
account.
• Payment does not require you to use your credit card online (you can transfer
directly from your bank account). DHgate doesn't see your credit card number (it is
safely encrypted through PayPal's server), which limits the risk of unauthorized use.

Paying with a credit card


When you select Credit Card as the payment method, you will be taken to a site where you
can pay
your order.

Real-Time Bank Transfer


Real-time bank transfer facilitates immediate online authorization of available funds. It offers
quick
payment and guarantees security for you either as a merchant (as payments are non-
reversible) or as a
consumers (as it works via their own online bank application). It is also more cost-effective,
especially
for higher value transactions.

1-Day Dispatch
1–Day Dispatch is a new default search option available to all DHgate buyers (both

VIP and Non-VIP buyers). It applies to items marked with the icon , which
denotes that your seller must dispatch the item to you within 1 working day upon
your payment confirmation. You can get the tracking number for your order after the
purchase item is dispatched, and there is no extra delivery charge on your order. The
delivery time is thus significantly reduced.

How to find One-Day Dispatch products?


On the search results page, you can tick off the box corresponding One-Day Dispatch
in the preference area at top left of the page.

US/AU Direct Dispatch

The US/AU Direct Dispatch is a new delivery service available on selected items in
the United States/Australia-based warehouses. When you place the orders marked
with the icon (items stocked in the local warehouse) or (items shipped on
the way), the items will be delivered directly to your door via your local logistics
company. There is free delivery charge on your orders and the delivery time is thus
significantly reduced.

Delivery Options
You can choose whichever method suits you best when you place an order. The following is
a list of the different international carriers available on DHgate, estimated time in transit,
and where tracking services can be located. DHgate is currently working on some more
shipping options, and the day it's available we will tell all our DHgate customers.
Delivery Cost
International shipping costs are based on a combination of the following:
• Weight and dimensions of package

• The location the seller is shipping from (city, state, country or region)

• The location the seller is shipping to (also called the destination country or
region)

Note: Credit card or PayPal cannot be used as a payment method for shipping methods
other than DHL, UPS, TNT and EMS.

Customs & Import Tax


Customs is a government agency responsible for regulating shipments entering a
country or region. All shipments being sent to and from a country or region must
clear customs first.
DHgate's sellers don't add taxes, VAT, or other hidden charges. You pay us what you
see on the order screen, i.e. goods subtotal + shipping cost.

Changes of shipping method


• The shipping method in the contract is unavailable to your
country - This refers to the case that the seller changes the shipping method
because the shipping method designated in the contract is unavailable to your
country.
If prior communication between the seller and you is conducted, and you
agree on the change, the seller should take the main responsibility in the case
that the item fails to be delivered to you; if no prior communication is
conducted between the seller and you, the seller should take the full
responsibility.

• You initiate the change of shipping method - This refers to the


case that when the order is in the status of pending shipment, you request to
replace the prior shipping method with a new one, and the seller agrees on
the change.
• The seller changes the shipping method without your
authorization - The seller should take the full responsibility if the package
fails to be delivered to you because the seller changes the shipping method
without getting your permission.

Returns of package
• The package is returned for your reason - You should take the full
responsibility if the return is caused by any of the following reasons:
1) You refuse to sign the receipt of the item for your own reason;
2) You cannot be reached by the shipping address.

• The package is returned due to product problems - The seller


shall take the full responsibility for the return in the case that you refuse to
sign the receipt of the item because the item is not as described as in the
contract.
• The package is returned for a third party’s reason - If the seller
ships out the item according to the contract and you are ready to sign the
receipt of the delivery, but the package is returned due to the carrier’s fault,
the seller should take the main responsibility.

Successful delivery of package


You should take the full responsibility for any dispute arising from allograph, if the
package is dispatched by the seller by the designated method to the designated
address based on the contract.

If you want to deal with the post-processing issues

1. Returns and refunds


• You return the item to the address provided by seller. - If a
return and refund agreement is entered into between you and the seller, you
shall provide the tracking number or the delivery receipt of the return after
the seller provides the address. The seller should give a refund to you after
the returned item is successfully delivered to the address.
• You return the item to the address on the package. - It refers to the case that you
return the item to the address on the package after you find that it does not match
the description in the contract. You shall provide the tracking number or the delivery
receipt of the return. After the item is successfully delivered to the address, the seller
should give a refund to you.
2. Re-delivery
This refers to the case that the seller agrees to re-dispatch the item to you when you
fail to receive the item or find it not as described. The seller should provide a tracking
number for the re-delivery. After the item is successfully delivered to you,
DHgate.com should release the payment to the seller.

3. Exchanges
This refers to the case that you return the item, and the seller sends a replacement
to you after receiving the return. For more details please read our return policy in
section 1 and our re-delivery policy in section 2.

Feedback Profile
Introduction

Feedback is your reputation as a DHgate member, which consists of comments and


ratings left by other DHgate members you've bought from or sold to. These
comments and ratings are valuable indicators of your reputation as a buyer or a
seller on DHgate. They are included, along with an overall Feedback Score in your
Feedback Profile.

Feedback Profile

Each Feedback Profile is made up of Feedback Score, Feedback Stars, Positive


Feedback Percentage, Comments, Service Detail Score and Feedback Details.
Detailed Feedback Profile
The detailed Feedback Profile provides a snapshot of how DHgate members rated
each other.

How is Feedback Score calculated?

Feedback Score = Positive Feedbacks – Negative Feedbacks

Note:

• • The Feedback for order value under $20 is not counted

• • The Feedback for cancelled order is not counted

How are Feedback Stars/Crowns calculated?

The Feedback Stars/Crowns are symbols of the level of a seller/buyer’s credit. The
higher the Feedback Score, the higher number of Feedback Stars/Crowns.

The chart below shows how each feedback level is represented by stars/crowns. A
Feedback Score of at least 5 earns one yellow star ( ). The number of stars will
increases progressively as the Feedback Score increases. When the accumulated
scores reach 1,000, a crown will be awarded ( ).

How is the Positive Feedback Percentage Calculated?

The percentage of positive ratings is calculated by dividing the total score value of
positive ratings by the sum of the score value of positive ratings and negative ratings
in the past 12 months.

VIP Membership
DHgate VIP Club is a program that offers a range of services & privileges exclusively
to our most frequent buyers. Each time you trade on DHgate.com, you are awarded
DHgate Scores. The more you trade, the more you benefit.The DHgate VIP
Membership has 3 tiers- Gold, Silver and Bronze.
From September 10, 2009, the new VIP Membership evaluation criteria will
be upgraded with significant improvements (see table below).

7 Days Return Policy

However, if you are unhappy with your purchase, you can return it for prompt and
courteous refund or exchange within 7 days from the date you received the

• Merchandise must be returned to the seller within 7 days from the date
you received it.

• A refund will be issued for 100% of the purchase price, less shipping

DHcoupon Policy

1) DHcoupon codes will be generated and distributed by DHgate.


2) DHcoupon codes have a face value which will be deducted at time of redemption.
3) DHcoupon codes may be used in conjunction with other promotional programs
such as 'free shipping', etc.
4) The face value of Seller Coupon will be deducted in the case of refunds.
5) All your usable coupons are presented on “Submit Order” page when you check
out.
6) DHcoupon and Seller Coupon can’t be used together.
7) Each DHcoupon code can only be used once.
8) Minimum order amounts must be met in order to redeem a DHcoupon code.
How to manage Members Only Zone membership?
VIP members can enter My DHgate > Seller Store > Members Only Zone to manage
your membership and application.

• 1) After you send the completed application to a seller, the status will
be shown in Seller Store Applications.
2) After the seller approves your application, a note will be displayed in
Available Seller Stores tab where you can see a listing of your Seller Store
memberships.
Power Seller

Requirements for Power Seller Membership

To qualify and maintain the Power Seller membership, members must:

• Uphold the DHgate community values, including honesty, timeliness and


mutual respect

• Meet the average minimum sales requirements of US$1,500 in sales, for two
consecutive months

• Achieve an overall feedback rating average of 20 scores for two consecutive


months—of which 96% or more is positive

• Have been an active member for 30 days
