CHAPTER-1

INTRODUCTION
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:
Managing, employing, developing, compensating and utilization of HR.

Human Resource Management is the term used to describe formal systems


devised for the management of people within an organization. The purpose of human
resource management is to maximize the productivity of an organization by optimizing
the effectiveness of its employees. The basic mission of human resources will always be
to acquire, develop, and retain talent.

Meaning:

 Human resource management means employing people , developing their


resources utilizing, maintaining and compensating their services in tune with the
job and organizational requirements.
 Human resource management can be defined as managing , planning, organizing,
directing and controlling the functions of the employing , developing and
compensating human resources resulting in creating and developing of human
relations with the view to contribute proportionately to the organization ,
individual and social goals.

DEFINITION :

managers to recruit,select,train and develop members of an organization”

RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION
RECRUITMENT :
Recruitment is the process of having the right person in the right place, at
right time and it is crucial to organizational performance. It is also known as the process
of discovering the sources, finding and attracting potential and capable applicants for
employment. The process begins when new recruits are sought and ends when their
applicants are submitted.

Recruitment is a process of finding and hiring the best qualified candidates


(from within or outside of an organization) for a job opening in a timely and cost
effective manner. The recruitment process includes analyzing the requirements of a job ,
attracting employees to that job, screening and selecting applicants hiring and integrating
the new employee to that organization.

Recruitment has become a very important function of human resources


management. Inspite of availability of high educated population, the organizations still
find it to be a major challenge to have suitable candidates for a given vacant position.

The study of recruitment practice is always been important of any industry


from both the manufacturing and service sector.

SELECTION :
Selection is a process of picking the individuals with requisite qualification and
competence to fill jobs in the organization.

“Selection is screening and filtering process of job applicants who have invited
to apply for the vacant positions through which the process comes to and end”

Selection is a process of putting right men on right job. It is a procedure of


matching organizational requirements with skills and qualification of people. By
selecting best candidates for the required job the organization will get quality
performance of employees.

o Recruitment is considered as a positive process as it motivates more


number of candidates applicants. It is just source of data.
o Selection is considered as negative process because appropriate candidates
are rejected here.

NEED FOR THE STUDY :


Rapid industrial development has been seen in India in the
last few centuries. Industries play a very good vital role for a country’s economy
development.

One such industry is the cement industry which plays


significant role in developing country like India. Some of the recent major
government initiatives such as development of 98 smart cities are expected to
provide a major boost to the sector.

Kesoram cements are doing its business from decades and


it is one that is contributing to the national economy. It is needed to know the
recruitment policies that are implemented and their methods followed. It is also
important to know the employees intension about their recruitment and selection
process.

1. Help in increasing the success rate of their selection process.


2. Need of the study is to attract people with multi-dimensional skills.
Scope of the study :
Recruiting wrong kinds of people can effect any organization. It is
very important to maintain a very good technique of recruitment and selection. So, for
this purpose a good research technique has been followed for the present study. Data has
been collected from various aspects of HR management, and from the employee of
administration department.
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY :
 To understand the method of recruitment at kesoram industry and suitability.
 To know about the factors that influence recruitment at kesoram industry.
 To find out the basis of their recruitment.
 Methods or process used in conducting recruitment and selection.
 Satisfaction of employees by recruitment and selection.
 To what extent company is successful in achieving its recruitment and selection
procedure.
 To examine problems in recruitment and selection procedures.
 To test whether the company follows different recruitment process to different
grades of employees.
 To know the challenges faced by kesoram industry during recruitment.
 To examine following aspects, as part of basic objective of the study.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY :
Research instrument: The required data for analysis has been collected through
 Primary data.
 Secondary data.

Primary data : primary data consists of a collection of original primary data collected by
the researches. It is often undertaken after the research has gained insight into the issue
by reviewing secondary research or by analysing previously collected primarydata.

 Questionnaire
 Observation

Secondary data: Secondary data is that that is collected by someone other than the use.
common source of secondary data for social science includes censuses, organizational
records and data collected through qualitative methodologies or qualitative research.
Primary data by contrast are collected by the investigator conducting the research. The
secondary data is gathered from the status report, records and personnel manual of
kesoram industry .

SAMPLE DESIGN:
POPULATION: It is the total number of employees in the company i.e.,100 employees.

It may include executives,non-executives and the officers of the company ( kesoram cement
Basanthnagar karimnagar)

Sample size :
100 employees including executives and non-executives from various departments were
chosen randomly for this study.

Sample technique:
Simple random sampling was the technique used for the study.I have surveyed some of
the employees based upon my conveince. Each employee has been given with one
questionnaire to fill.
 The information collected for this purpose of this study consists of both primary
and secondary data.
 It contains two to four or many options for each question. I used this for purpose
of getting absolute from the respondent.
