Environmental preservation against new technology

Today environmental problems are too big to be managed by individual persons or

individual countries. In other words, it is an international problem. But this is much
more problematic if we are talking about new technology.
New technology is an essential problem of the 21st century. Due technical reasons we
can reuse or even reduce, and we ought to focus on recycle 1. A few years ago, in the
eighties, electronic components had been manufactured with low percentage of mercury,
lead, etc. A small presence of those components could contaminate a huge quantity of
water, and we could find in our vegetables or even on fishes. But how a single
individual could improve the world pollution due to electronic devices, however every
person should take care of his or her habitat. In addition, it is vital that electronic
components are treated internationally, but locally disassembled.
A few years ago, BBC broadcasted a documentary about how computers from Police
Department of City of Birmingham were located in the middle of Libyan. How it was
possible? What's wrong in our program of waste treatment? As you know, when
someone buys a new computer, a small quantity is used in recycling old components.
But what really happen? There are special law regulations, but globalization is the
public enemy. Because, it is cheaper send our rubbish to the third world to be treated
instead of doing it locally. Of course, in those countries there are no regulations, or
industries could change it temporally to its benefit.
However, the influence of individuals over environment should not be ignored. If we do
not confess that our planet is our home, we will never be able to take adequately care of
it. We have to contribute every day to the preservation of nature and environment. For
example, collecting our electronic components in special container only in the
designated areas and disassembling locally in order to get basic elements.
To sum up, environmental problems by new technology should be handled by local and
international authorities as well as individuals. Every single person should take care of
the environment; moreover we have to bring up our children to be conscious citizens of
a preserved planet.
