Bill 4891 or the “Transpor-
tation Network Service Act”
that classifies ride-sharing
platforms like Grab and
Uber as public utilities that
should be regulated by the
Land Transportation Fran-
chising and Regulatory
Board (LTFRB).
Batocabe, in a statement
sent to PNA, said the mea-
sure, if it would be passed into
law will standardize the regu-
lation of riding platforms such
as Grab and Uber.
HB 4891 has defined the
“online-enabled transporta-
tion services” as “transport
network vehicles” which
could be deemed as public
utilities that should be regu-
lated by LTFRB.
Batocabe said passage
of this law would set strict
guidelines to ensure the safety
of passengers.

A Country Divided
The signs are here. Dutertard and
Yellowtards. Impeachment for the
President. Impeachment for the Vice
President.
This is less of an indication of a
healthy democracy though, but more of a
continuing struggle to cling and hold on
to power.
This is a power which is still centered on
who wields it and less of a decentralized
sharing of it, which is the reason in the
first place on why the 16 million voted for
President Duterte. They wanted change,
as they put it.
The present leadership, however, has
not delivered that promise nor given much
hope to those who enshrined him to power.
We therefore have, not only a crisis in
leadership; but also a country divided.
Is there a way out of this quagmire or
stalemate?
That is definitely the reason for hoping
against hope.
We should at this time go beyond these
sounds and furies, be able to listen to
those 16 million who certainly have valid
reasons for trusting President Duterte.
They are the evidence that the old system
of the old oligarchy did not work, nor
would still work.
We had hoped that EDSA 1 would
change it all, but it didn’t. So here we are
again.
The Dutertards, however, should also go
beyond basking in their new-found victory
or ascension to power.
They should use that power not to
ensure or ensconce another power-
hungry dictator or another come-backing
power hungry scion; but to usher into that
system they had been hoping.
Absent that, we will go back to where we
are, always a country divided.
What is the way out?
It may be a kind of an altruistic ideal,
to be selfless, to think of others than
ourselves, the nation’s before the party
interest.
If we can perhaps think along that line,
perhaps we may be able to bridge that
chasm that is now slowly dividing us
further as a country.

My #TAAP journey in pursuing my
biggest dreams and advocacies had been
very challenging especially in my finances.
There was even a time last year that I
went literally broke! I spent all my savings
for professional trainings exposures and
volunteer activities here and abroad. I even
had to borrow money to settle my very high
credit card bills, which until now I'm paying
little by little. If I was wise enough and only
consider the financial aspect, the best
logical decision was for me to accept high
paying jobs that were being handed to me
on a silver platter but I didn’t.

business of a very prominent family
which could have saved me from being
financially broke. More than 40,000
pesos monthly salary even on a part-time
engagement, who's stupid enough to
decline that?! Well, apparently me!
After a few days of immersing myself
to their company, I felt that I'm losing my
authenticity. Yeah, I walked away from
that gold pot. Why? Because I don't see
my personal value fits their value. I cannot
100% buy-in to their vision. I felt that by
just taking that job because of money I am
going to lose my true self in the process.
It's not my true calling. It's not going to
fulfill my personal value and vision. It's not
me. There's a misfit.
You see, I always put my heart in
everything that I do. Even though my
head is already telling me that I needed
that money in order to financially survive,
I still followed my heart. And for me, that's
something significant… to be able to
follow the desires of my heart.
I could have fulfilled my childhood
dream to be a multi-millionaire by now
and saved myself from being financially
broke had I opted to accept all the high-

I don't regret pursuing my passion
because that's how I found my purpose
which I believe and declare is my key to
infinite love and abundance in due time.
I am going to reap what I sow.
So for you, what is it that you really
want to do? When will you have the
courage to do it? No, it won’t be easy. I’m

and you might even feel discouraged
once your finances suffer but the more
question here is “are you doing what
you heart truly desires?”
Trust me, God will always be there to
provide for your needs so don’t be afraid
to pursue your big dreams. One day
you’ll realize that you’ll worth more than
the salary you receive… that experience
and network is more valuable than the
current money you make so don’t be
afraid to leave your comfort zone. Along
the way, make sure you identify what’s
really significant to you and pursue it.
That’s how you’ll grow! And please,
I hope you will not let material value
overshadows your personal values
and dictates the direction of your life’s
journey.

It is indeed a cause for celebration, yet we know there’s
more ahead. As a teacher we become part of this joyous
affair seeing our students ride off to the sunset. There is
mixed feelings of fear and happiness for our students, be-
cause uncertainty often breeds anxiety, but we know they
were prepared for the new tasks that await them.
With the K-12, new batches of grade 11 would be pour-
ing in, and we’ll have the first batch of grade 12 to graduate
come 2018. Their training before entering college were pre-
pared in terms of the curriculum, however there are certain
issues especially with the facilities; still not enough rooms
in other schools, and not enough teachers, and other same
old stories. While the students are expected to graduate
from their level, we might also ask? When will the educa-
tion system graduate from these same old problems? Our
hopes are high.
The government is facilitating the means to achieve the
educational system’s own commencement into the next lev-
el. New teachers are being hired and new facilities are be-
ing established, slowly but surely we are getting there. The
promises for salary increase is still at the drawing board but
at least there is a glimmer somewhere in there.
If we are to expect students to acquire quality education
before they move on and commence to the next level, the
Philippine education system must also commence to the
next level. We have made the first stride by implementing
the k-12 program, and hence must continue to supply the
necessities that goes along with this new system to achieve
optimum performance of that system.
If we finally achieve that upgrade holistically, then not
only the education system will commence to the next lev-

not only destroy the name of her
husband but the name of Naga

aks which already involved the
name of the city itself.
“We know how hard we have
built this city to achieve its pres-
ent status. Nobody has the right
to destroy the name of this city,”
she added.
Robredo said the people of
Naga City had worked hard to
build a good reputation for the
locality.
She said the problem with
the online expose is that it
peddles the same lies which
had been answered and proven
untrue by her husband when he
was still alive.
Robredo said she has no
problem if the expose were con-
fined to Naga City because she
is confident the people will not
believe it.
The crowd gave a nega-
tive response when she roused
them to ask if her husband had
ever been involved in the illegal
numbers game jueteng, drugs
and murder.
Robredo said that if the cy-
berbullying could not be stopped
it will continuously create divi-
sion among the people of Naga
City who could be pinpointing
at each other due to posts in the
Internet that have no basis.
She advised the crowd to
avoid sharing fake information
by blocking these items when
they appear in their Facebook
timeline.
Trinity Mayor, a leader of the
Silent Majority, said they orga-
nized the prayer-rally because
the online expose' against Jesse
Robredo had been rehashed and
issues thrown at him which were
proven untrue when he was still
alive.
“We cannot keep silent now
because this cyberbullying is not
only destroying the name of the
late Jesse Robredo but the peo-
ple of Naga City who believe in
his ideals,” said Mayor.
Paz V. Santos, a retired pro-
fessor of the De La Salle Uni-
versity, said there is someone
or force behind cyberbullying
who wish to destroy the name
of Jesse Robredo and his wife
and will benefit from the slur on
their name.
“We, as people of Naga, de-
mand that these trolls, naysayers
and twisted evil doers stop and
let us go on with creating a soci-
ety that is right and just,” Santos
said.
Christopher Molin, leader of
the PWDS, shared his testimony
regarding the accessibility and
openness of Jesse as a public
servant who gave importance to
their sector.
“We are witness to the genu-
ine openness and leadership of
Jesse Robredo in Naga City.
