Instructional Plan for General Physics II

Name of Teacher: Ms. Kayle Michelle M. Combis Grade Level: 12

Learning Area: General Physics Quarter: III Module No: N/A
Lesson No: Duration (minutes/hours): 60 minutes
Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding about the importance of electric
components in electrical devices.
Topic: RESISTORS COLOR CODE
Learning objectives: Code:
a. Determine a resistors value by examining its color bands; STEM_GP12EM-IIIf-47
b. Compute the tolerance of resistors;
c. State the importance of resistors in electrical devices.
Resources Needed: Visual aids, Laptop, Projector, Chalk, Chalkboard, ppt
presentation, Resistors
Values Integration: Honesty
Procedure: Methodology
Elements of the Plan
A. Preparation
a. Prayer Ask them to stand and pause for a while to pray the morning
prayer.
b. Checking of Ask the students who are absent for this day.
Attendance
c. Setting the Mood Do classroom routines.
1. Pick up some pieces of paper around their chair.
2. Ask them to sit properly.
3. Ask them to be silent.
c. Recapitulation of the Ask the students about their idea regarding the past lesson.
past lesson Let them ask questions if they have something to clarify.
If all the clarification is done, proceed to the next activity.
B. Development of the Lesson
a. Motivational Activity 4-Pics 1-Word
Let the students answer the 4-pics 1-word activity to be projected
using the projector or using the visual aid as the case may be.
Divide the class into three groups and let them analyze the
pictures and ask them to write their answer on their whiteboard.
Check their answers.

b. Analysis Connect the motivational activity to the lesson.

Ask the question below:
Have you seen resistors?
What have they notice to the resistors?
Introduce the topic about Resistors Color Code.
Ask the student, what is resistance?
The student must arrive that Resistance (R) is the amount of
opposition to the flow of electrical current.
Resistance is measured in units called ohms, named after
German scientist and mathematician Georg Simon Ohm (1787-
1845), and it is symbolized by the Greek capital letter omega
(Ω).
Explain what are the three most important characteristics of a
resistor are?
c. Abstraction Discuss how the Resistance of the Resistors Measured?
Explain how do we know which color corresponds to which
number?
Discuss the Resistor Color Code
Explain how to calculate tolerance range of resistor
Ask the essential question, why resistors are important in
electronic devices?
Give varied examples on how to compute the resistance value
and tolerance of resistors.
d. Application The teacher will group the student into three.
The teacher will provide the colored resistors.
Each group will get five colored resistor.
They will calculate the resistance and get the maximum
and minimum tolerance of the colored resistors.
They will write their answer with solution to one whole
sheet of paper.

e. Generalization 1-minute asking activity-Ask the student to write one question

regarding a concept that is unclear to them. Let them write it on a
piece of paper.
Collect all the questions and clarify all the misconceptions.
Assessment:
I. Calculate the resistance value and the minimum and maximum tolerance of the following
resistors. (5pts. Each)
1. 3. 5.

2. 4.

Assignment:
I. Draw the color code of the following resistor
II. Calculate the minimum and maximum their maximum and minimum tolerance.
1. 47 K Ω ± 5%
2. 87M ohms Ω ±10%
3. 240 Ω ±2%
4. 620 Ω ±5 %
5. 152 Ω ±10%
