4. Dine in a pretty treehouse, by the riverside and more: Khao Yai’s

unique cafes
If you’ve fallen in love with Khao Yai’s beautiful architecture that reminds you of Europe, you’ll be equally captivated by
the very special cafes you can nd here. How about a dollhouse perched on the tree? Or a vintage museum with a
restaurant right beside the river?

4-a. Breaking conventions – Dairy Home Farm Shop

This farm shop in Pak Chong is the best shop in the world, we think, if only for the fact that it serves food. We love
how rebellious it is: “I’m a shop, not a restaurant!”

The shop also sells organic produce – who says you can’t do marketing and stu your face at the same time? The
sample stalls at Isetan say “yes you can”, and so does the Dairy Home Farm Shop.

This establishment exists in the form of bright red barn buildings and a tree house, which really makes you feel like
you’re at a farm.

Although you might question, since when did farm food taste so amazing? The shop is renowned for its homemade
ice cream, and its Kurobuta (black pig) steak is also highly raved about.

Elephants

If you’re really excited about meeting elephants and better yet, getting to feed and stroke them…. You’ll be happy to
know that you can, in Khao Yai!

Simply drive along Thanaratch road, and stop the car when you spot the elephants by the road. Interested in feeding
the elephants? Baskets of sugarcane are available at 50 Baht each, for you to interact with the magni cent beasts.

The best time to go would be between 9 to 12, where you’ll get to see the caretakers bathing the elephants –
watching the elephants spraying water in their mouths is a really fun thing to watch (strangely), and you might just
enjoy it too!

Editor’s note:

While elephant rides are available here, we strongly advocate against elephant rides.

Riding elephants can actually cause serious long term harm  as their spines are not made to support the weight of
humans. Do try to avoid taking a ride as it is actually harmful to these magni cent animals.
