;GENERAL GUIDELINES ON THE SCHOOL-

BASED IMPLEMENTATION OF SOLID


WASTE MANAGEMENT

1.Every classroom and offices must have four segregated receptacle


bins for biodegradable, residual, special waste and recyclable
waste. The bins are located inside/outside the classroom.

2. There will be one Centralized Material Recovery Facility, One


composting area and one Residual Containment Area (RCA).

3. Solid waste collected and segregated will be dropped in the


following places:
a. Residual Containment Area ( RCA) – Residual
Waste/special waste
b. Composting Area – Biodegradable Waste
c. Material Recovery Facility –Waste
papers/recyclable waste

4. Collection schedules:
A. Room/offices to Residual Containment
Area/Composting area & MRF is every Thursday 4:00-5:00 PM and
every Friday
6:30-7:00 AM.

a. Schedule for collection of waste by municipal


garbage collectors will be Friday once a week.

b.Burning of waste of any type is strictly


prohibited.
5. The school canteen and extension canteen are prohibited from
using barbecue sticks and plastic cellophane for juices and any cook
foods for waste reduction.
6. Selection of SWM Model Classroom will be done quarterly.

SWM Coordinator. SWM Co-Coordinator
1. Each pupil is required to segregate their waste and throw them in
their proper receptacles provided namely: biodegradable,
recyclable,residual, and special waste.

2. Anyone caught not following the proper segregation shall render


services and will be punished to dispose the garbage for one (1) whole
week.

3. The SWM representatives are assigned in the disposal of wastes


which is scheduled every Thursday afternoon at 4:00-5:00 pm and
Friday morning at 6:30-7:00 am.

4. Each one is required to bring his/her own food container when buying
food and drinks from the canteen to reduce the use of residual wastes.

5. Each one is required to use notebooks during writing activities.


1. Requiring the BCS pupils to bring food containers every time they buy
food in the canteen.
2. The non-biodegradable but recyclable waste materials such as
biscuit wrappers and empty bottles can be made into displays.
3. Vendors are firmly instructed not to sell their products to the pupils
without food containers.
4. Every grade level must have outputs made of recyclable materials for
exhibit during the SWM Festival.

SPECIFIC GUIDELINES ON THE SELECTION OF SWM MODEL
CLASSROOM

1. Presence of four segregated receptacle bins placed inside/outside the classroom.


> Biodegradable waste
> Residual waste
> Special waste
> Recycle waste
2. Practice RSR (Reduction, Segregation, and Recycling) with clear evidences.
3. Records of remitted/ turn over recycle waste to RCA, to MRF signed by the in-charge.
4. Organize SWM Corner with SWM Officers, SWM Information and presence of on-
going innovative recycling activities.
5. Absence of litter, piles of waste inside/ outside the classroom and in respective area
of responsibility.
6. Any instance of violations of pupils as implemented by the Enforcement, Monitoring
and Evaluation Team is a point committees against his/her section.
