CLEAN AIR ACT.

- The Clean Air Act is a United States federal law designed to control air pollution on a
national level.
CORROSIVE WASTES-are acidic or alkaline (basic) wastes that can readily corrode or dissolve materials they come into contact
with.

EARTHQUAKE-a sudden and violent shaking of the ground, sometimes causing great destruction, as a result of
movements within the earth's crust or volcanic action.
ECONOMIC HAZARDS- In economics, moral hazard occurs when someone increases their exposure to risk
when insured. ... A moral hazard may occur where the actions of one party may change to the detriment of
another after a financial transaction has taken place.

FIRE DRILLS- a practice of the emergency procedures to be used in case of fire.

FIRE SAFETY- Fire safety is the set of practices intended to reduce the destruction caused by fire. Fire
safety measures include those that are intended to prevent ignition of an uncontrolled fire, and those that are
used to limit the development and effects of a fire after it starts.

FIRST AID- help given to a sick or injured person until full medical treatment is available

HAZARDOES EQUIPMENT- are defined as places where fire or explosion hazards may exist due to
flammable gases, flammable liquid–produced vapors, combustible liquid–produced vapors, combustible dusts,
or ignitable fibers/flyings present in the air in quantities sufficient to produce explosive or ignitable mixtures.

IQUITABLE WASTES- Under English law and Australian law, equitable waste is waste that a life tenant has a
right to commit at common law but is restrained by a court of equity. This doctrine fits under the broader
framework of equity, in which a legal right to do something is not so unrestrained that it is impossible to abuse
that right.

IMMINENT DANNGER- Section 13(a) of the Act defines imminent danger as "... any conditions or practices
in any place of employment which are such that a danger exists which could reasonably be expected to cause
death or serious physical harm immediately or before the imminence of such danger can be eliminated
through the enforcement ...

MITIGATION ACTIVITIES- the act of mitigating, or lessening the force or intensity of something unpleasant,
as wrath, pain, grief, or extreme circumstances: Social support is the most important factor in the mitigation of
stress among adolescents. 2. the act of making a condition or consequence less severe: the mitigation of a
punishment.

OCCUPATIONAL HAZARDS- a risk accepted as a consequence of a particular occupation.

OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE- DEFINITION: Occupational Health is the promotion and maintenance
of the highest degree of physical, mental and social well-being of workers in all occupations by preventing
departures from health, controlling risks and the adaptation of work to people, and people to their jobs. (ILO /
WHO 1950)

OSH TRAININGS- Occupational safety and health (OSH), also commonly referred to as occupational health
and safety (OHS), occupational health, or workplace health and safety (WHS), is a multidisciplinary field
concerned with the safety, health, and welfare of people at work.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT- Personal protective equipment (PPE) refers
toprotective clothing, helmets, goggles, or other garments or equipment designed to protect the wearer's
body from injury or infection. The hazards addressed by protective equipment include physical, electrical,
heat, chemicals, biohazards, and airborne particulate matter.

REACTIVE WASTE- A. Unfortunately, the hazardous waste characteristic of “reactivity” can be quite
subjective. USEPA's definition of “reactivity” under 40CFR261.23(a)) is as follows: It is normally unstable and
readily undergoes violent change without detonating. It reacts violently with water.

RECOVERY- a return to a normal state of health, mind, or strength. the action or process of regaining
possession or control of something stolen or lost.

RESPONSE- a verbal or written answer. a written or verbal answer to a question in a test, questionnaire,
survey, etc. a reaction to something.

SAFETY DEVICE- a device designed to prevent injury or accidents. Synonyms: guard, safety Types: fender.
a low metal guard to confine falling coals to a hearth. safety catch, safety lock. guard consisting of a
locking device that prevents a weapon from being fired.
TECHNICAL DEVICE- Assistive technology devices are identified in the IDEA 2004 as: Any item, piece of
equipment or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified, or customized, that is
used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of children with disabilities.

TOXIC WASTES- toxic waste definition. A general term used to refer to chemical compounds
produced by industry which, if they are ingested or breathed in by humans, can cause physiological
damage. The disposal of toxic wastes is a major environmental problem in the United States.

WASTE MANAGEMENT- Waste management is collection, transportation, anddisposal of


garbage, sewage and other wasteproducts. Waste management is the process of treating
solid wastes and offers variety of solutions for recycling items that don't belong to trash. It is about
how garbage can be used as a valuable resource.
