Pakistan: JI Leader Flays Rulers for Being Pro-US, Defying Apex Court

Report by Online/NNI: "We Shall Arrange Defense of Pakistan Conference on 15 January: Syed
Munawar Hassan"

Rawalpindi -- Apolitical and non-electoral alliance of all the major religious parties, Defense of
Pakistan Council, has announced to arrange Defense of Pakistan Conference against the US
aggression in the name of war on terror, incumbent rulers' pro-US policies, and the crises
confronting the country, in Liaqat Bagh in Rawalpindi on 15 January.

As address of President Asif Ali Zardari on the occasion of Benazir Bhutto's death anniversary is
raising several doubts and suspicions, Defense of Pakistan Council would jump into the arena to
reorganize the people to safeguard national honor and esteem, country's solidarity and
sovereignty and to defend the country's ideological frontiers. These views were expressed by
Liaqat Baloch during a press conference yesterday.

He said that the Defense of Pakistan Conference would be held in Liaqat Bagh Rawalpindi on 15
January. The conference would aim at ending the US slavery, so that the nation should be
released from the agents making the nation coward by mentally accepting the US slavery, he
added.

The central general secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami [JU] said it is quite inappropriate to challenge
the Supreme Court regarding Benazir Bhutto's murder case.

During an interview, he said President Asif Ali Zardari's bold speech could be source of
satisfaction to some extent for his party workers, but he cannot satisfy the public through such a
speech. He is witnessing his departure from the scene and has delivered this speech for election
preparations, Baloch added.
