In this article, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention talks about different forms of cigarettes and what
leads teens to become addicted to smoking. After telling us different statistics of teens when they first try a
cigarette they then tell us about electronic cigarettes and why it leads to smoking tobacco. The CDC your
parents are the main cause of smoking. They said some of it may be genetics and the other is the environment
you live and the amount of stress you have. The CDC also took matter in their own hand and rose prices of
cigarettes and they also prohibited smoking in certain areas. This article is perfect for my background research
it provides a basic view on why young teens smoke backs up the reason why. Greenhalgh,,

In this article Greenhalgh explores and explains the causes and effects of cigarettes. After explaining the
history she then goes in depth of the effects cigarettes has on the smoker and eventually their kids. Greenhalgh
explains the importance to smoking before the age of thirty because it causes their kid will have the risk to die
prematurely. Ultimately she wants to get her point across that smoking is bad.This article is perfect for my
background research it provides the basics of the effects of smoking and goes in depth of the diseases.

they have tobacco control programs aim to reduce disease, disability, and death related to tobacco use. They

have decided that educational, clinical, regulatory, economic, and social strategies—has been established as the
best way to eliminate the negative health and economic effects of tobacco use. The FDA has set in laws and
regulations to limit the sale of cigarettes. For example the tobacco control act gives the FDA permission to
regulate the tobacco industry. This is a good overview of the the sources associated with The debate over the
ban of cigarettes. This is a great source for my background research because it answers my question of what
the government is doing to prevent tobacco from being sold. Aspa. “Preventing Tobacco Use
youth-tobacco-use/factsheet.html. Aspa describes the epidemic of tobacco use among young adults. They then
talk about the statistics and how tobacco use is increasing. Aspa then describes when young adults usually start
and how usually by twenty six they are a full time smoker. The article focuses on how it is worse to smoke if
you are younger and the consequences are deadlier. This is also a good source because it answers my questions
and gives me exact numbers and goes in depth of the differents kinds of tobacco teens use.

In this article is explains the basics of second hand smoke and different kinds of tobacco that cause second
hand smoke. The ASCO gives exact numbers on how second hand smoke may cause lung cancer. They als talk
about how smoking does not just cause lung disease or cancer but it also causes asthma and heart disease. This
article helped me spark an idea towards my capstone because it talks about how it causes asthma and I could
cause awareness towards asthma. It also helps my background research because it explains the causes of the
causes of second hand smoke and explains the reasoning behind the diseases and deadly effects. It also answers
my question on how I can help prevent smoking and secondhand smoking and bring awareness to this
epidemic.
