PSIII Professional Growth Plan

GOAL #1

To become more integrated with the community inside and outside of school hours. This will allow
me to expand my knowledge and understanding of the school therefore allowing me to make
connections within my teaching (ex. Cross-Curricular, the 7 habits, school wide goals).

KSAs 13) Student learning is enhanced through the use of home and community
resources. Know how to identify resources relevant to teaching and learning
objectives, and how to incorporate them into teaching and student’s learning

14) The importance of contributing, independently and collegially, to the quality of


your school. Know strategies to independently and collegially, enhance and
maintain the quality of your school to the benefit of students, parents, community
and colleagues
TIMELINE Jan 5th - June
STRATEGIES
• Start asking more questions about extra-curricular activities
• Talk to more staff and build a connection within the teacher’s community
• Volunteer more with the school
• Become more independent and confident in making decisions
• Make connections from the community to the curriculum

MEASURE OF
ACHIEVEMENT • Increase comfortability within the school community
• Boost in confidence as a result of knowledge and understanding of the
ways things work and what is expected

GOAL #2

Build a rapport with every individual student and with their parents as well. With such a diverse
classroom, it is important to understand each child and their situation to help them in ways that work
best for them.

KSAs 8) Importance of respecting student’s human dignity. Know how to establish, with
different students, professional relationships that are characterized by mutual
respect, trust and harmony

12) The importance of engaging parents, purposefully and meaningfully, in all


aspects of teaching and learning. Know how to develop and implement strategies
that create and enhance partnerships among teachers, parents and students.
TIMELINE Jan 5th – April 27th (emphasized heavily on the first couple of weeks)
STRATEGIES
• Get to know the students better by interacting during recess, lunch, after
school, or on supervision
• Talk to some parents when they come to pick up their child
• Make phone calls home for good and bad behavior
• Communication to parents through notices and agendas

MEASURE OF
ACHIEVEMENT • Students start to express their feelings with myself
• Students tell me stories about themselves and see me as a person on
support and safety
• Parents communicate back and share information about their child and
about themselves

GOAL #3

To incorporate the use of technology in multiple lessons so that technology has less novelty and
instead becomes a helpful learning tool. As well as using technology as a teaching tool to expand a
range of instructional strategies.

KSAs 9) There are many approaches to teaching and learning. Know a broad range of
instructional strategies appropriate to your rea of specialization and subject
discipline taught, and know which strategies are appropriate to help different
students achieve different outcomes.

10) The functions of traditional and electronic teaching/learning technologies.


Knowhow to use and engage students in using these technologies to present and
deliver content, communicate effectively with others, find and secure information,
research, word process, manage information, and keep records.
TIMELINE Jan 5th – April 27th
STRATEGIES
• Implement the use of smart board and iPads within the lessons I plan
• Use iPads as a class lesson
• Reinforce the proper use of technology
• Use technology at least 3 times a week
• Integrate technology with the program of studies

MEASURE OF
ACHIEVEMENT • Increase the comfortability and use of technology within the classroom
• Students take ownership of their work with the technology
• Technology is imbedded into my lessons every week (x3)
