Course Name: Ericsson EPC Overview & Fundamentals

This course describes the network architecture evolution from 3G to LTE and moves on to
describe the EPC architecture, Ericsson nodes. The course also covers some of the EPC related
solutions offered by Ericsson and the technology beyond this solution.

Course Objectives
After completing this course, the participant will be able to understand:

 Evolution from 3G to LTE.

 Describe the EPC architecture.
 Describe the LTE/EPC in relation with other packet core solutions.
 Discuss beyond EPC: Look at where EPC is going in the near future.
 Describe the interaction between 2G, 3G and EPC networks.
 Identify the EPC nodes and describe their function
 Name the defined interfaces for EPC and understand the protocol stack implementation.
 Describe the initial attach and session activation step by step.
 SACC functioning in LTE.
 LTE handovers.
 QoS Class and ARP.
 LTE interface messages
