(TWO MARK QUESTIONS WITH ANSWER)

FINAL YEAR–VIII th SEMESTER

MR. G. SURESH (ASSO. PROF/CIVIL)

Chendu College of Engineering & Technology
Zamin Endathur, Madurantakam,
Kancheepuram District- 603 311.
1-unit

1.What is meant by prefabricated?

Then the precast reinforced member are shipped to the place where they are to be used here they are
hoisted set into their final places and assembled to from a complete structure.

2.what is precast unit?

The element of a structure manufactured in a factory as a readymade unit.

3.what is module?

A unit of size in dimensional co-ordination for standardization od building materials and components .
BASIC Module is M=10cm=100mm.

4.what is modular co-ordination?

The way new procedure for integrating the size of building materials and components so that may be
simplified as per basic module. M=10cm. It is the technique of the dimensioning system.

5.what is meant by tolerance?

It is sum of acceptable positive and negative discrepancies of actual dimensions from the
theoretical one.
2-unit
1.what is dimensions of prefab components?
1.flooring and roofing scheme

a.length b,width c,overallthickness.

2.Beam

3.columns

4.walls

5.staircase

6.lintels
7.sunshades/chajja projections

2. classify the precast concrete wall panels?

1.based on size

2.based on materials used

3.based on function 4.based

on location 5.based on the

core section 6.based on

stressing.

3.What is loading?

When there is adhesion of create to the formwork some forces are development when is is not
really estimated it is assumed.

Qa=300kg/m².

4. what is lifting devices?

The lifting devices are made up of mild steel in bar form called as lifting.

5.what id stability formula?

G(Z-C1)≥0.6 wbl²

Where,

G-Wt of the component

Z≤h/2- is smallest distance b/w centre of gravity and edge of component. C1-

eccentricity due to unavoidable errors in production and errection of component.

6.What is Solid floor slab?

Ordinary concrete slabs of solid cross section are used in

1,beam and slab construction containing slab supported on beams (T-beam)

2. as floor slabs resting on wall or on columns.

7.what tray or pan slabs?

This slabs are tray shaped pre-cast floor panels. These are of two types a,narrow trays b,wide trays.8.
what is roofs?

Like convention roof, prefabricated slab roofs are also made. The structures supporting all covering
the area is known as over roof.

8.what is sand wich panel?

1,structural

2,insulation

3,decorating.
3-UNIT

1.What is homogenous prefabrication

The prefabricates which have only one material are called homogenous prefabrication. The homogenous
unit may be hollow, solid,ribbed.

2.what is the composite prefabricates

A prefabricate with more than one material is called a composite prefabricates. Also classified 1,soild
section 2, cored section 3,ribbed section.

3. write down the rectangular section formula

Ψ=f/f'f/Γbkb

4. What is disuniting of structures

In prefabrication many elements of prefabricated are assembled or united or joined to from a

single structures.

5.what is advantages scaffolding

1,hoisting or lifting method is very simple

2,auxillary scaffolding are not necessary.

6. what is the problem involved in design due to joint flexibility

There are difficulties and problem if the joints of various elements are not proper. It joints not
strong then the failure will occur in the structure.

7. what are the important requirement of the joints

1.the constant of joint should be easy,

2. the joint should required little material

3.joints should not consume more laboure

4.the cast should be minimum

5.greater control informing and constant of joints is necessary.

4-UNIT

1.What is the allowance for joint deformation

Various structural elements are made in the plant or prefabricated when this element in their site
there may be joint deformation to take it workout deformation.

2. what is the rules are followed to decide the overall nominal degree of precision
of a prefabricates

1,from only one dimension is critical the degree of precision corresponding to the dimension of the
component.

2, when more than one dimension of the component are allowed tolerance or allowance.

3.what is the specific ranges of precision are assigned

1, steel or cast-iron modulds-4-

5 2,concrete moulds-4-6

3,vertical battery moulds steel-5-8

4,vertical battery moulds concrete-6-8

5,collapsible steel form- 5-8

6,timber forms bolied or wedged-7-8

4.what is blocks size
Thickness-(-o+5mm),width-(-5+8mm),length-(-15+10mm)

5. what is the panels size

Thickness-(-0+5mm), width-(-5+10mm),length-(-5+10mm)

6.what the limiting value of allowances are calculated for the following formula.
Φ1=+b(l+0.66/l+b), Φ2=-2(l+0.6/l+b),

Φ3=+-5l/l+b, Φ4=+-5(l+0.6/l+b).
5-UNIT

1.What is collaspse
Assumption,stress strain curves, code condition.

2. what is the progressive collapse

The progressive collapse is not structural failure which is initialted or started by localized structural
damage and subsequently continuously develop as chain reaction into a failure that involves a major
portion of the structural system.

3. what is important of avoiding progressive collapse

Progressive collapse is a situation were a local failure of a primary structural component leads to be
collapse of adjoining member which term leads to additional collapse.

4. what is code preovisions

Earthquake-Is1890,is1820.

5.what is the design load for considering abnormal effect such as what
Earthquake, cyclones.
