Standards

 LAFS.1.RF.3.3
Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
 LAFS.K12.W.1.3
Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using
effective technique, well-chosen details, and well-structured event sequences.

Accommodations

The teacher will model how to complete the activity, this will benefit all students, both
ESE and ESOL. The use of hands on materials will benefit the student. The student will
be working with a group of peers, he or she could ask his peer for help if needed. The
teacher will use short and simple phrases to assist the ESOL student.

Centers

1. Build A Story
The student will randomly pick a setting, character, and event and create a short
story. The setting, character, and event will be in separate envelopes, therefore
the student will not be able to pick which story or specific character they want.

2. Egg Sight Words


The student will practice decoding on level words by playing a sight word game.
Each student will have a plate and a spatula. The student will pick up an egg with
the spatula, if the student says the word correctly they keep it. The student with
the most eggs at the end wins the game.
