Page 1SOLID STATE HIGH SPEED DOOR OPERATOR
‘Two quadrant chopper designed with reversing contacts for fll four quadrant operation
High Frequency Pulse Width Modulation: Chopping frequency is near 25 khz. (outside audio band) for noise free
‘and vibration tree operation. It also reduces the heat generated by armature ripple current.
Electrical Braking: Very low intemal impedance power supply together with wide traces on printed circuit board
makes electrical braking possible. Slow down is controlled mainly by the motor, not by system frictions found in other
door operators. As long as the motor is selected properly, difference in door weights should not affect door speeds at
all. An additional speed board to serve extra heavy door(s) is no longer required.
IR Feedback For Speed Regulation: Motor is electronically compounded for predictable performance under most
real world operation. Both speed and torque are controlled to have repeatable performances. For example, door
‘speeds are maintained even after belt tension is increased or decreased.
True Current Limits: Changes in speed settings do not change current limit settings. Open current limit is theed at
8A. Door closing force is field adjustable as well as door locking force.
Low current Switching: For extended contact life, motor switching contacts must be closed first before chopper is
activated. Chopper is disabled first before motor switching contacts are allowed to open. Whatever current level was
{at the moment motor is commanded otf, switching contacts will only have to clear 10% of the current
Power Mostets Used at Output Stage: These new high speed switchers provide low switching losses, loss heat and
lower drive requirements when compared to bipolar transistors.
Automatic Kinetic Energy Limiting: Required by 844 2.13.4 (when door re-opening devices removed) can be
achieved instantly by connecting “DO4" to “LIA”. This would reduce speed and bring system kinetic energy down dur-
ing closing operation.
Acceleration and deceleration slopes are adjustable as well as the fast reversal slope. This feature lets you
smoothen speed transitions eliminating jerks and noisy operation.
NOTE: Code Max. is 2.5 fttbs. when closing without having door re-opening devices operative.
POTENTIOMETER SETTINGS
Femark: CW rotation of a pot increases speed or current or makes the slope steeper.
Opening Operations (Start with doors fully closed)
PL open start speed - sets the intial open speed to allow the clutch to engage with the
hall door pick up rollers.
OS open slow speed - sets the final open speed before stop
OF open fast speed - sets the open fast speed
Closing Operation (Start with doors fully open)
CS close slow speed - sets the final ciose speed before stop
CF close fast speed - sets the close fast speed.
N nudging speed - sets the nudging speed for kinetic energy limiting
CCL door closing force - sets the door closing current equivalent to the door closing force
and is active during closing (see also page 11)
DLF door locking force - sets the door locking force and is also active during nudging but
the latter function can be disabled by cutting R80 resistor jumper.
Closing and Opening
Operation DEC deceleration slope - sets the speed deceleration ratio in both opening and closing
‘modes. It smoothens speed transitions during deceleration
‘ACC acceleration slope - sets the speed acceleration ratio in both opening and closing
‘modes. It smoothens speed transitions during acceleration.
Reversal Operation FDEC_ fast deceleration - sets the deceleration ramp during door reversal from closing to
‘opening. Usually set up fully clockwise

1. MARK DAYLIGHT ACCORDING TO DATASHEET
E.G. 9/4 FOR SINGLE SPEED 8° CAB 36" DOOR
144 FOR TWO SPEED $' CAB 48" DOOR
2, SET OPERATOR, CENTER OF CRANKWHEEL ONTO DAYLIGHT LINE, ATTACH LINKAGE, MAKE SURE
CRANKARM RUNS PARALLEL TO DOOR FACE (MOVE OPERATOR TOWARDS OR AWAY FROM
HALL DOOR) AND HAND TIGHTEN CLAMPING SCREWS.
3, MOUNT CLUTCH AND SHIM ACCORDINGLY TO ENGAGE CLUTCH ARM INTO CRANKARM.
4. CONNECT POWER 120 V AC TO L1A, L2A AND GROUND. SWITCH S-1 TO TEST, SWITCH S-2 FROM OFF
TO OPEN. CHECK DOOR TRAVEL AND CONNECT WITH CAMS (PAGE 3), CHECK SPEED AND ADJUST
POTENTIOMETERS (PAGE 2).
YOUR OPERATOR IS SET, CONTINUE WITH POINT 10. SHOULD YOU HAVE DIMENSIONAL OR ELECTRICAL
DIFFICULTIES, CONSULT FIRST THE DATA SHEET FOR YOUR OPERATOR DIMENSIONS.
5. _ BY FULLY CLOSED DOOR YOUR “A” LINKAGE SHOULD BE HORIZONTAL. (60LBS. FORCE)
6. SET RUBBER STOP ON CRANKWHEEL AGAINST OPERATOR BASE. (1/16" CLEARANCE).
7. SET YOUR CAMS IN FOLLOWING ORDER (PAGE 3).
DOOR CLOSED: CLX-CL-PL-CSDL
DOOR OPEN: OLX-OL-OSDL

RELAYS. CONNECT ONLY TO 120 V AC (L1A-L2A-GROUND) AND RUN DRY CYCLES.
10. _ TIGHTEN CLAMPING SCREWS ON OPERATOR BASE - CAMS - LINKAGES & CLUTCH.
IMPORTANT: REGARD THE CODE REQUIREMENTS!
‘The following six code requirements have to be achieved:
By fully closed position, and power off, a 60 Ibs. force should enable you to pull the door open.
By fully open door, arm ‘A’ and ‘C’ in straight line, no 'Shear-Action’ can be exposed, maximum */” over door post.
While car running, door cannot be pulled open.
Closing force not to exceed 30 Ibs.
During closing Kinetic energy shall not exceed 10 joules. (7.4 Ibs ft),
In nudging mode, Kinetic energy shall not exceed 3.0 joules. (2.5 Ibs. ft.).
ick setup procedure
‘Connect the door operator board according to the attached schematics. Follow standard interface hook up. Verity
‘connections and check relay rating voltage.
2. Set SW/1 switch to TEST and SW2 switch to OFF.
‘Set up the door closing force to the maximum value as allowed by your standards. For Canada itis 135 Newtons
(80 Ibs.). Use CCL potentiometer. Clockwise rotation increases the door closing force. Usually two people have to
set up the force. One person operates the door while the other measures the force.
4, Using SW2 switch cycle the door and adjust speeds by means of the speed potentiometers and the speed transi-
tion points by means of the cam switches. To smoothen speed transitions use ACC and DEC potentiometers.
Clockwise rotation increases the speed steepness. Do not test the reversal operation at this time. when the door
‘operates smoothly proceed to
5. Using SW2 switch reverse the operation from closing to opening. FDEC potentiometer, usually set up fully CW
‘may smoothen the reversal if the operation is too jerky. Set it up in such a way that the door travels no more than
2 inches before it stops and starts to reverse. If the door travels too far slowdown the closing speed (CF poten-
tiometer).
6. Inorder to set the nudging speed make a jumper between L1A and DO4 standard operator. Use N pot to set up
the speed.
7. Do not forget to tighten the cam screws.
