Problem Definition

If user wants to borrow some books her/his

library card is a must.

No book will be issued until he/she carries

the library card along with them.

The librarian checks if the previous book

borrowed from library has been return in the
fix time span. If yes, then only next book
can be issued. If not, then only next book
issued. If not, then a fine is to be paid.
Scope of system

The different areas where we use this

application are:
1. Any educational system
2. Technology which used frontend
language like HTML, JAVA and backend
language.
3. Application which convert manual to
Online.

Customized data used in this application.

User does not have the rights to enter any
information into book.
It provides reading services to members.
Any person can become member of library
by filling form. They can get the
Book issue .They can take it home & return
it.
7

Functionality:

1. Online Membership.
2. Keep the track of issue and
submission.
Objective Of system

Time saving:
Our new system is computerized system.
It works faster than existing system.
This system is Time saving.

Less time to search:

It takes Less time to search Books and
record.

Efficient result:
This system gives efficient result.

Fact Finding Techniques

The specific methods used for collecting

data about requirements are called fact
finding Techniques.

This technique gives us basic requirement

of our project.

Followings are Fact finding Techniques:

1. Record Review
2. Interview
3. Questionnaire
4. Observation

Record Review
Records include writer policy manual,
regulations and standard operating
procedures used by the organization.
Records inspection can be done at the
beginning. Records and Reports provide
the valuable information.

This was the most beneficial technique for

us while making our database. We studied
the existing file structures, documents used
and generated in the organization. For
every individual piece of information in
these files or register we tried to identify its
significance, need, relation with other data
item and any other features.
11

We collect documents format for

1. Sections and subjects

2. Book Register and card
3. Issue register and card
4. Return register and card
5. Library card
6. Fine Receipt

Interview
We used this technique frequently in the
system analysis after questionnaires.
The interviews were unstructured.
Interview was unstructured.
Mr........ (Librarian)
Library In charge
Fergusson College

1] How the system functions?

-- The students pay for joining library.
I give the library card to student.
Then the name of student will be
registered into registration book.
Then issue of book that particular
student can be done henceforth

Question:
13

2] How the process of library goes?

--1.Our library contains many books.
According to the different categories like
novels magazine reference book the books
and categories into different section and
according to different subject so when
anyone comes to borrow the book, then
searching for the particular book is become
easier job and it has become time saving
also.
2. We take care of maintenance of all
books, because improper handling of books
causes wear and tear of books which ends
up in extreme bad condition of books, so
purchasing new books and maintenance of
them can be avoided.
3. We also have to do the job of fine
calculation when borrower does not return
the issued books in the fixed time span or in
intact manner.
Question:
3] What rules and regulations are to be
followed by borrowers?
-- 1.Another thing is that the borrowers
have to return the book within a limited
time span.
2. Borrower physical presence is
extremely necessary at the time of issuing
or returns the book.

Questionnaire
15

The technique includes a sequence of

Questions to collect information mostly from
a large number of people who may or may
not be using the system .so several of
people are gathered to identify problems
faced by the system.
We used this technique in the initial
and final phases of our project. In the initial
phases we prepared questionnaires to get
some basic information about the current
system. Questions asked were both open
ended and close ended.
Which were related to user's
interaction with current system,updation
and rules for record maintenance, report
generated by current system complication
in the system as per the user.

Observation
While finding the facts we keenly
observation all the activities in the
organization.
We paid attention to the transaction,
usage of files and documents,
The record keeping and handling of queries
in the existing system.
Observation helped us in finding out
the actual way functioning apart from the
ideal or desired.
This helped us mainly in interface
design.

Feasibility Study
17

The feasibility study is useful to

evaluate the cost and benefits of the
system requested.

The feasibility study tries to anticipate future

scenarios of software development.

The feasibility study is carried out by a

group of people who are familiar with the
information system techniques, understand
a part of the business that will be involved
in the project and are skilled in the system
analysis and design process.
It is carried out to understand that
whether the requested system is feasible.

There are three aspects in the feasibility

study:
1] Technical feasibility
2] Economical feasibility
3] 0perational feasibility

Technical Feasibility
19

The Technical Feasibility always focuses

on the existing computer on the existing
computer hardware,
software and the other components.
It also includes the need above and
possibility of installing such facility.
It goes into the details like can be the work
for the project with the current
equipment/hardware, existing software
technology and available manpower.

Economical Feasibility
This study deals with are there
sufficient benefits in creating the system to
make the cost acceptable or is the cost of
not creating the system so great that the
project has to be undertaken.

Operational Feasibility
21

Will the system be used if it is

developed and implemented?
Will there be resistance from the users
to the new system
Our system is easy to understand easy
to operate input design are similar to typical
queries so this project is operationally very
much feasible.

Input/output Screen Designs

1. Borrower Screen
a. Staff
b. Student

2. Book Screen

3. Issue/Return Screen

4. Fine calculation Screen

Conclusion
23

This application can easily implement

under various situation.
We can add new features as and when we
require .This system also provide user easy
access to an expanding amount of
information.
Hence library system have accomplish the
mission of selecting, arranging, preserving
and providing access to information
