Corrective maintenance activity

Corrective maintenance
The network maintenance is based on the supervision of the network, by using the OAM
graphical interface. For more information, refer to Alcatel-Lucent 9353 Wireless
Management System - User Guide, 9YZ-04088-0014-PCZZA.
It is also based on the identification and replacement of faulty items of equipment, using
the alarms.
The process is divided into the following two steps:
• Locating and identifying the faulty items of equipment, by using the information
provided in Alcatel-Lucent 9353 Wireless Management System - Node B Alarms
Reference Guide for 9311, 9312, 9322, 9326, 9332 Node B, 9YZ-04088-0060-UFZZA
• Replacing the faulty items of equipment, by using the replacement procedures given
in this document
Note: The iModules replacement procedures described in this guide are based on the
following assumptions:
• Your 9326 d2U V2 is equipped with the following digital modules:
– One iCCM-U upgraded with the specific adapter board and front panel (iCCM-U
V2)
– One e/xCEM-U (mandatory) and possibly up to two additional e/xCEMs-U
– Possibly up to two iCEMs-U upgraded with the specific adapter boards and front
panels (iCEMs-U V2)
• As spare parts, you ordered iCEMs-U V2 and iCCMs-U V2 modules (order codes:
3JR08057AA and 3JR08056AA).

Description of a replacement procedure

A replacement procedure is divided into the following parts:
• The title
• The main body with the following information:
– The intervention time
– The tools required
– The impact of the procedure, if necessary
– The step-by-step actions of the procedure
One or more figures are provided to help you execute the actions. They show the FRU
schematically and its location in the cabinet.

Intervention restrictions
There may be a lapse of time between the identification of the alarm at the Access OAM
Graphic User Interface (GUI) and the time you arrive at the site.
You must be synchronized with the access network controller or system administrator (by
telephone) before an on-site intervention, in the following cases:
• Isolating procedures
• Completion of an on-site intervention
• Return to service procedure

General personnel safety instructions

The personnel must obey the safety instructions specific to the installation site:
• Rules concerning the premises (see instructions posted on site or in the building)
PRELIMINARY

• Rules linked to general personnel safety instructions

The personnel working on the cabinet must be authorized to work according to security
standards.

Replacing an optical transceiver

Purpose
Carry out the following procedure to replace a defective optical transceiver.

Intervention time
Five minutes

Tools required
None

DANGER
Laser hazard
This equipment operates with invisible laser radiation. Laser radiation can cause
considerable injuries to the eyes.
Never look into the end of an exposed fiber or into an open optical connector when the
optical source is switched on. Always observe the laser warning instructions.

NOTICE
ESD hazard
Electronic components can be destroyed by electrostatic discharge (ESD).
Hold circuit packs only at the edges or on the insertion and removal facilities.
Always observe the general ESD instructions.

Procedure

European regulatory requirement compliance

Overview
The 9326 d2U V2 (without MLP box) falls under the Directive of the European
Parliament and of the Council of December 15th 2004 on the approximation of the laws
of the Member States relating to electromagnetic compatibility 2004/108/EC.
This directive covers essential requirements in the field of:
• Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) protection requirements contained in Directive
2004/108/EC.
This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy. If not
installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, it can interfere with
radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interferences do not occur
in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio
or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on.
The user is encouraged to correct any interference problems.
EMC requirements have been selected to ensure an adequate level of compatibility for
apparatus in residential, commercial, and light industrial environments. Compatibility
levels, however, do not cover extreme cases that can occur in any location, but that
have a low probability of occurrence. In particular, they may not cover cases where a
source of interference that is producing repeated transient or continuous phenomena is
permanently present. This could include, for example, a radar or broadcast site in the
near vicinity. In these cases, it may be necessary to limit the source of interference,
and/or apply special protection to the interfered part.
Note: For operation or maintenance inside Alcatel-Lucent systems, the operator must
always wear the antistatic wrist strap to maintain the integrity of the product.
• Effective use of the Radio spectrum allocated to terrestrial/space radio communication
and orbital resources to avoid interference. The routes and standards used to
demonstrate compliance with these requirements are outlined in the following
paragraphs.
– Node B EMC
Compliance with essential EMC requirements was demonstrated using ETSI EN
300 386.
– Node B safety
Compliance with essential safety requirements was demonstrated using

European Union Environmental Directives (EUED)
The 9326 d2U V2 is manufactured according to the following two European Union
Environmental Directives:
• Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), 2002/95/EC.
The RoHS directive restricts the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent
chromium, poly-brominated biphenyls (PBB) and poly-brominated diphenyl ethers
(PBDE) in electrical and electronic products. This directive applies to all electrical
and electronic products placed on the European Union (EU) and European Economic
Area (EEA) markets after July 1, 2006, with certain exemptions, including an
exemption for lead solder in network infrastructure equipment.
• Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), 2002/96/EC.
The WEEE directive mandates the necessary treatment of such equipment when it
enters end-of-life. It specifically identifies requirements for recycling, reuse, and
disposal.

North American regulatory requirement compliance

Overview
The 9326 d2U V2 has been qualified according to North American market requirements.
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital
device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide
reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a
commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency
energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may
cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a
residential area is likely to cause harmful interference in which case the user will be
required to correct the interference at his own expense.

CAUTION
RF hazard
This is a class A product. In a domestic environment this product may cause radio
interference in which case the user may be required to take adequate measures.

Node B safety
The 9326 d2U V2 complies with UL60950-1 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 60950-1 Safety
Standards.
The CSA mark is applied on the 9326 d2U V2 and demonstrates compliance with both
US and Canadian Standards.

Node B EMC
The 9326 d2U V2 complies with 47CFR Part 15 class A for EMC emission limits.
This Class A digital apparatus complies with Canadian ICES-003.

Node B interconnection compliance

The 9326 d2U V2 complies with Industry Canada IC-CS03 Part II requirements and
meets the applicable Industry Canada technical specifications.
