1. INTRODUCTION
1.1. Overview

This report describes the proposed system and performance requirements for
Air Conditioning & Mechanical Ventilation System Services

This Report is structured in two sections:

• Design Requirements
• MEP System Proposals

Appendices are prepared to support the following

• Initial Load Estimations
• Equipment Catalog / Reference

This report is accompanied by schematic diagrams to describe the proposed

System & Type of System Distribution.

This proposed systems and design requirements in this report will be furthered
detailed and developed into detailed design drawings and technical
specifications at detailed design phase.

1.2. Description of Project

The Senior High School – Education Building Generally Comprises of the

Following

• Ground Floor – Class Rooms & Laboratory

• Second Floor – Class Rooms
• Third Floor – Class Rooms & Faculty
• Fourth Floor – Class Rooms & Faculty

2. CODES AND STANDARDS

The mechanical and electrical installation will generally comply with local
Codes and regulations and relevant international standards. Details are given
below.

2|P a g e DESIGN CRITERIA – SENIOR HIGH BLDG

2.1 Air-Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation Systems (ACMV)
• ASHRAE Standards
• PSME Code
• SMACNA
• NFPA 90A Installation of Air Conditioning And Ventilation Systems
• NFPA 92A Smoke Control System
• NFPA Life Safety Code
• American Society of Mechanical Engineers

3. DESIGN CRITERIA
3.1. Air-Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation Systems

Outside Design Conditions

Project Location : Tanauan, Batangas

Philippines

For the purpose of design and sizing of air-conditioning equipment the

following outside design conditions will be adopted

Summer:
External : 38˚C dry bulb
29.5˚C wet bulb
Rainy:
External : 23˚C dry bulb

No space heating system is considered necessary

3.2 Internal Design Criteria

The air conditioning equipment capacity will be sized so that indoor dry bulb air
temperature can be controlled to 22 ±2˚C

Notes:
(1) The tolerance levels shown indicate the range of temperatures due to
controls system operation.
(2) No control of relative humidity levels will be included. The relative humidity
levels shown indicate the values adopted for the purpose of design and
selection of the cooling coils design conditions.
(3) With spot cooling for kitchen areas.
(4) Pressurization during fire mode (for enclose fire stairs) only
(5) Pressurization under the mode for the lift lobby

3.3. External Façade

Glazing U – Value (W/m2 K) 2.5 W/m2K

Glazing Shading Coefficient 0.4
U-Value for non-vision area 0.741 W/m2K
U-value for roof 0.57W/m2K

4. ACMV SYSTEM

4.1 Air-
Air-Conditioning System

The most applicable type of Aircon system is Multi-Split Air Conditioning System /
Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) / Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) OUTDOOR
UNITS with matching indoor Fan Coil Units (FCU’s) to serve the common area’s &
most of the entire rooms. See the attached sketches for reference.

As the FCU is controlled by a single thermostat controller, individual room control

of temperature will provide.

The cooling load will be calculated during the Detailed Design Phase when all the
design criteria/parameters are established and details on the external façade and
roof construction are firmed up.

4.2 Mechanical Ventilation Systems

Mechanical ventilation system comprising fans, ductwork, supply/exhaust

grilles/louvers, etc. will be provided to serve all rooms that required mechanical
Ventilation.

Hallway is naturally ventilated only circulating fan is provided on the corner

hallways.

4.3 Comfort Room (Toilet) Exhaust for Equipment

All toilets will be provided with individual mechanical exhaust system per room.
The exhausted air will be make-up by outside air migrating from the door louver
or open windows
