1. Pitch of a micrometer screw is mm. If its circular scale is divided in equal 50 divisions, Calculate Least count of it.

2. A micrometer screw has L.C. 5 X 10-6 m. If there are 100 divisions on its circular scale, find pitch of micrometer screw.
3. Main scale of a vernier calipers is calibrated in millimeter. Twenty divisions of vernier scale is equal to 19 division.
Calculate least count of it.
4. In an experiment to find out refractive index of glass, the observation of refractive index are 1.36, 1.29, 1.33, 1.34, 1.35,

stress on the rod, the elongation and the strain of the rod? Given that Young’s modulus Y for steel is 2 X 1011 N/m2.
3. Determine the terminal velocity of a metal sphere in glycerin. Given radius of the sphere 0.02 m, density of the material
of sphere is 10.5 X103 kg/m3, coefficient of viscosity is 0.98 Ns/m2, density of liquid is 1.5 X 103 kg/m3.
4. There is a tube lying in a horizontal plane having a diameter of 1 cm, water flows in a tube at the rate 12 cm/s. If
viscosity of water is 0.01 CGS unit and density of water is 1 CGS unit. Calculate Reynold’s number.
5. Calculate the surface tension of water that rises to a height 1.5 cm in a capillary tube of 2 mm diameter, density of water
is 1CGS unit and g=980 CGS unit, angle of contact is 00 .
6. A wire of length 5 m and diameter 2 mm is hanging from ceiling. Mass of 5 kg is suspended at its lower end. Calculate
increase in its volume. Poisson’s ratio is 0.2, young’s modulus = 2 X 1011 N/m2 and take g = 10ms-2
