When Stephen Hawking was eight years old, his family moved to St. Albans, a town about 20
kilometers north of London. At the age of eleven he went to the St. Albans School, and then to the
University of Oxford, the old school of his father. He wanted to study mathematics, even though
his father would have preferred medicine.
Full name: Edgar Allan Poe
Edgar Allan Poe was the son of Elizabeth Arlold Poe and David Poe, street theater actors, who left
him an orphan at the age of two. He was educated by John Allan, a wealthy businessman from
Richmond, and from 1815 to 1820 he lived with him and his wife in the United Kingdom, where he
began his education.

He was born into a wealthy family, his father was Sofilo a wealthy armor dealer, because of this he
enjoyed a good education, the best of the aristocrats of the time.
As a young man of only sixteen he was elected choirmaster of boys to celebrate the victory of
Salamis. In 468 a.C. he achieved notoriety as a tragic author when he appeared at the theatrical
competition held annually in Athens and defeated Aeschylus whose supremacy as a tragic poet
had been indisputable in previous years.
Probably he resided in diverse populations of Spain when having to accompany his father, who
wanted to improve his profession of surgeon.
