Nursing 1112 Health Promotion with Individuals I

Becoming a Professional Nurse

Purpose
Students will have the opportunity to compare and contrast their personal qualities that prepare them to
establish effective professional relationships with clients/patients in the context of nursing with qualities
important to nurses as discussed in the literature.
Process
Discuss and describe life experiences that have shaped your personal attributes, knowledge, attitudes, and
skills and how you think this will support your ability to establish effective professional relationships with
clients/patients. Using a minimum of two of the sources listed below, plus an additional high-quality resource
you have researched and relates to your paper. Consider how your previously discussed personal
characteristics align with, or contrast with, descriptions of an effective, helping relationship. Each of the
following readings focuses on a discrete aspect of what contributes to developing effective helping
relationships with clients/patients and is not meant to be comprehensive.
