INSTLLATION METHOD & SPECIFICATION

No. Installation Work Instruction and Specification Remarks

1 Controller Controller shall be installed as near as possible to


the device. The controller shall not be installed
more than 10 meters away from the door. The
controller is usually installed above the ceiling
except Time Clock Controller.

The controller shall be secured either to the wall or


mounted on a bracket if there is no suitable place to
mount on the wall. The controller shall be easy
accessible and ease for servicing in future. (Refer
to the drawing)

2 Termination All cable is to be terminated in terminal block. The


cable shall be stripped to proper length (about
5mm) before inserting to the terminal block. Ensure
that there is no shorting to the adjacent connection.
Over tightening of screw can caused damaged to
the connector. (Refer to the drawing)

3 Connection of Backup Ensure the battery’s polarity is correct and


Battery terminated to the right connection. The backup
battery shall be placed inside of the controller is
space is available. (Refer to the photograph)

4 Entry Reader / Keypad For standard installation, Entry Reader/Keypad are


/ Keyswitch installed at 1300mm from finish ground level and
this equipment shall be installed at the adjacent
side of the door knot. (Refer to the drawing)

For non-standard, confirmation from customer shall


be required before any installation.
5 Exit Reader / Push For standard installation, Push Button/Breakglass
Button / Breakglass shall be installed at the same hight of Entry Reader.

However, for back to back exit reader installation,


both the Entry and Exit Readers shall be at least 10
inches apart. (Refer to the drawing)

6 Wooden Door Sensor There are two types of installation for sensor –
Surface mount or Flush mount.

Sensor shall be mounted on the secured side with


screw/nail (for surface mounting) or flush in. The
sensor cable shall not be exposed more than 2 cm.
If possible, all cabling shall be conceal for maximum
security.
7 Glass Door Sensor Double-sided tape is not acceptable for mounting
sensor on glass door. The sensor shall be mounted
using Silicon glue to prevent it from falling off.

8 Electro-Magnetic Lock For standard EM Lock installation, the


for Wooden Door electromagnet shall be mounted on a fix frame and
armature shall be mounted on a moving door.

If necessary, L-Bracket shall be used for mounting.


Refer to various door type of installation.
9 Electro-Magnetic Lock U-bracket shall be used for installing EM Lock on
for Glass Door (Swing glass door with frame. For frameless glass door,

armature is aligned with magnet.
10 Power Point If possible, power point for the controller shall be
tapped from Power Distribution Board or nearest
power point available. Power point cable used
shall be at least 1.5mm PVC cable and it shall not
be tapped from equipment where it generates
electrical noise.
11 Opening of Permanent The opening of permanent manhole shall at least
Man-Hole 600mm x 600 mm. The ceiling shall be kept clear
and glove shall be wore at all time to prevent dirty
the ceiling.
12 Hacking and Before any hacking work is carried out, written
Plastering Work approval shall be obtained from the relevant
authorities. The wall that requires hacking shall cut
using diamond cutter and the cutting area shall be
chipped off using electric hacker. The conduit used
is 25mm.

After installing the cable and PVC conduit, it is


required to plaster the hacked area and paint with
white paint.
13 Cable Pulling Along All conceal cables shall be installed in PVC pipe
Wall with at least 20mm (3/4 inch). GI pipe shall be used
upon request. All hacking work shall be adhered to
‘Hacking & Plastering Work’ installation work
instruction.
14 Cable Pulling above All cables installed above ceiling shall be in PVC
ceiling pipe unless it is specified using GI. All pipes shall
be pull along the wall and secured with bar saddle.

The pipe shall not ‘fly’ across or diagonally for the


shortest possible route. All piping shall be joined
using coupler or other appropriate joint.
15 Cable Joining If possible cable shall be in one complete length
from one point to another without join in between. If
the cable requires joining then proper connector is
to be used for the joining.

Cable join can be either through soldering or Butt


Splice.
16 Cable with Flexible All cable shall not be exposed. If require, PVC
Conduit flexible conduit shall be used and shall not be
longer than 3 feet. The flexible conduit shall be
properly connected using copper bush or
appropriate accessory. Metal flexible conduit shall
be used upon request.

17 Outdoor Cable Pulling All outdoor cable shall be installed with GI pipe
where there is road crossing. The depth of the road
cutting shall be at least 6 inches. After laying the
pipe, it shall cover with cement. PVC pipe is
allowed along the road shoulder.
