Flexi Multiradio 10

Base Station Quick Guide

This guide can be used as quick reference for Flexi Multiradio 10 BTS installation.

Flexi Multiradio 10 BTS is a macro BTS site solution. It consists of one System Module with transmission
and RF Modules/Remote Radio Heads (RRHs).

This quick guide covers basic RF Module configurations stacked on the floor or mounted on a wall or on a pole.
For RRH, cabinet, or 19" rack installations, see the operating documentation.

This document is common for all Radio Access Technologies (RAT). You may find here information
about solutions that are not available or supported in a specific SW release or RAT.
For features supported in your SW release, see respective feature documentation chapter in the system library.

WARNING! Risk of eye damage caused by invisible laser beam.

Danger of eye damage caused by invisible laser beam!
Make sure that the laser beam is switched off when optical cables are installed.
WARNING! Risk of electric shock.
Before turning RF power on, RF ports should be terminated by nominal 50Ω load
(for example, feeder with antenna). However, if these conditions are not met,
the plastic caps that are delivered within the unused RF ports should remain in place.
The plastic caps isolate RF power from the environment, and thus provide
electric shock security in case RF power is accidentally on.

NOTICE:
Incorrect cables and seals may not provide secured weather protection. In outdoor
installations, including the outdoor cabinet, use only tested IP65 class outdoor cables
with seals provided by NSN. This is also recommended for indoor installations.

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) may damage the modules. Wear an ESD wrist strap or
use a corresponding method when handling the modules.

The plinth rear stopper is fragile. Do not attempt to lift the plinth using the rear stopper.
Installing and commissioning of BTS products must be performed by an expert
familiar with electronic devices, to avoid damage caused by improper handling.

8 Cabling (continued)
Using shielded cables
- External surge protection is always needed in outdoor installations with FSMF DC input
(with or without FPFD) if the input power feeder length exceeds 10 m.
(Installed close to FSMF DC input port).
- External surge protection is always needed in outdoor installations with FPFD output
if the output power feeder length exceeds 10 m (installed at FSMF end only).
- Shielded power feeder is always needed in outdoor installations when the power feeder length
exceeds 4 m. The power feeder cable needs to be grounded at both ends.
- BTS DC power input must be floating -48 V DC or positive grounded.
NOTICE: Negative grounding is not allowed. With negative grounding, the fuse protection
does not work and surge and lightning protection may not work properly.

9 Powering up and commissioning the BTS

1. Power up the BTS and check the LEDs and fuses to ensure that all modules are powered.
2. Commission the BTS. See the Commissioning Flexi Multiradio BTS document for further information.
