 Like It Was ...
Today is such a strange, whispy thing--hard to hold on to,
yet always there. And after being used it is piled on top of all
the other used days and called yesterday. But though used it is
not simply d i scarded, forgotten. The best thing about yesterdays
is remembering when they were todays.

BISON 1 69 is the story of our today. And because it tells it

like it is, we hope you 1 ll be able to look through this annual to-
morrow . .. and remember it like it was.

 Since you received your school annual one year ago, great progress and
development has transpired in all areas of human life, with the visitation to
the moon probably the outstanding achievement of the year. The human mind
cannot imagine what the world will be like 25 years from now.
I have a deep conviction however, that what was right morally, ethically,
and spiritually in all human relationship a century ago is right today and will
be a century from now. By the same token that which was wrong is wro ng to-
day and will forever continue to be.
Truth, hone sty, integrity and justice in all areas of human relationships
will forever prevail.
May I quote again from Charles W. Cole as I did in the 1966 annual.
'' Education is not something that is done for a student or to a student. It
is no laying on of hands, no putting on of robes, no pouring in of information.
Education is what the student does for himself in the way of developing his own
powers. Teachers can help; so can a curriculum and an atmosphere of de vo -
tion to things of the mind. But ultimately the problem is utterly the student's.
If he would be an educated man, then he must give his best effort to the ar-
duous, the unpleasing , often discouraging task of disciplining his mind to the
point where it is an effective mechanism- -knowing full well that the trained
mind is the most powerful instrument in the whole world."

 The Senior Farewell

We were scholars: We tediously composed papers, crammed for exams,

and finally completed four years of high school.
We were organizers: We led B. H. S. as student body officers, devoted our
time and talent to the annual and newspaper, operated the radio station.
We were dreamers: We p l astered the halls with victory signs, concocted
various fun assemblies, floated through a great prom evening.
We were athletes: We delighted in winning football and basketball games,
we strove to give better than our best, and proudly wore the red and
black.
We were students: We struggled with our Ohio Psychological Tests and our
difficult locker combinations, displayed our school spirit at blazing
bonfire and vigorous snake dance.
