Warnings and Cautions 0

When replacing spare parts on the SONOLINE G20 ultrasound system always observe
the safety cautions and warnings.

WARNING The G20 system contains hazardous voltages that can range from
90 VAC to 264 VAC and cause serious injury or death.
¹ Only authorized service personnel are permitted to
remove protective covers and access the energized com-
ponents of this system.

WARNING The weight of the G20 system represent lifting hazards.

The use of improper lifting methods or lifting in an awkward man-
ner can cause serious injury.
¹ Transport instructions for the G20 system are provided
on the shipping container. The G20 system is not
designed to be lifted once removed from its shipping
container. Transport the G20 system by rolling it on its
casters.
¹ The US National Institute for Occupational Safety and
Health publishes design guidelines indicating that items
weighing greater than 15.9 kg (35 lb.) must be lifted by
two people or mechanical lifting aids. Items weighing
greater than 34 kg (75 lb.) must be lifted only with
mechanical lifting equipment.

CAUTION When replacing fasteners, use fasteners of the correct length.

¹ Using the wrong length fasteners may cause damage to
underlying equipment.

CAUTION The G20 system contains components that are sensitive to dam-
age by electrostatic discharge (ESD).
¹ Observe all ESD protective procedures and use ESD pro-
tective equipment including an ESD wrist strap when the
protective covers are removed from the system.

the system brakes.
2. Power off the system, switch off the MAINS power circuit breaker, and leave the power
cord connected to the wall outlet.

Verify the Operation of the System 0

After performing any of the FRU installation procedures in this document verify the opera-
tion of the system by performing the following steps:

1. Plug the AC power cord into the wall outlet.

2. Connect a transducer to the transducer connector.
3. Switch the MAINS circuit breaker to on.
4. Press the Standby button to power on the system.
5. Confirm the boot sequence completes without error.
6. Perform a POST test and verify no errors are logged.
7. Verify a 2-D image is displayed.
8. Press the M button and verify an M-mode strip is displayed.
9. Press Standby to power off the system.

Monitor 0

This section describes the removal and installation of the G20 monitor and then verifies
the functionality of the monitor after performing the installation. The installation of the
monitor requires approximately ten minutes.

CAUTION The G20 system contains components that are sensitive to dam-
age by electrostatic discharge (ESD).
¹ Observe all ESD protective procedures and use ESD pro-
tective equipment including an ESD wrist strap when the
protective covers are removed from the system.

Remove the Monitor 0

1. Power off the system, switch off the MAINS power circuit breaker, and disconnect the
power cord from the wall outlet.
2. Loosen (not remove) the screw that secures the monitor post cover to the system.

Right-Side Panel 0

There are two configurations for the right-side panel, one for the LC system and one for
the SLC system. The LC system is configured with a transducer “parking” port; the SLC
system is configured with a transducer sector port. The right-side panel is a spare part
that ships from the factory configured for the LC system. For SLC systems, the “parking”
port cover must be removed and replaced with the sector port cover. The sector port cover
components are shipped along with the right-side panel.
The right-side panel procedures assume that right and left-side panels are attached to the
system.

Remove the Right-Side Panel 0

1. Power off the system, switch off the MAINS power circuit breaker, and disconnect the
power cord from the wall outlet.
2. If connected, disconnect the transducers from the system.
3. Loosen the four captive screws that secure the right panel to the system.

5. Pull the panel away from the system.

Install the Right-Side Panel 0

The installation of the right-side panel on a G20 LC system differs from that of an SLC
system, because the LC and the SLC use different port covers. For an LC system, install
the right-side panel as it is assembled from the factory. For an SLC system, the LC “park-
ing” port cover must be removed and replaced with the SLC sector port cover compo-
nents.

Install the Right-Side Panel (LC system)

1. Align the right-side panel four captive screws with their matching mounting holes and
secure the captive screws.
2. Couple the right-side panel to the system.
- Move to the front of the system.
- Press the side panel into place. The panel should snap back into place.
