Module Aims
1. To develop in students an awareness of the processes of ordering and supplying goods
through the medium of English
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the module the student will be able to
1. Identify appropriate language related to ordering and supplying goods

3. Use appropriate language to enquire about sales
4. Use countable and uncountable nouns correctly
Outline Syllabus
1. Speaking and Listening
 Listen to and understand telephone and other verbal discussions relating to the ordering
and supply of goods
 Practise dialogues, both telephone and face-to-face, relating to the ordering and supply of
goods
 Practice dialogues dealing with problematic issues related to the ordering and supply of
goods (late supply; wrong quantities, etc.)
2. Reading and Writing
 Read and understand sales catalogues
 Prepare orders for the supply of goods (letters, faxes, memos and e-mails)
 Prepare sales advertisements
 Write descriptive paragraphs using graphs and charts
 Write monthly budgeting and financial reports
3. Grammar
 Countable and uncountable nouns
 Subject/verb agreement
 Problem areas in English pronunciation: student difficulties clinic
4. Business task
 Prepare a portfolio identifying sources for a product, pricing, payment options and
delivery schedules; determine the best option
