IV. Adjourn

Key Learnings:
-The board’s job is to govern. The superintendent’s job is to lead and manage.
-The board adopts the policies to ensure that their ideas come to fruition. The
superintendent applies the policies to develop a plan to make sure everyone is on the
same page.
-The policies are developed from state statutes.
-The School Board of Education votes to approve policies, which are brought forward
by the district's superintendent with the approval of the Board's standing committee
on policies.
-Policies generally answer the question WHAT?
-It is important to have a policy review process in place as this demonstrates the
board’s accountability to the taxpayers of the district.

Comment: Policies are divided roughly into chapter subject divisions by number.
