Showing Appreciation to our Veterans
VeteransAppreciation1
Our veterans come in all size, shapes, ages, and genders. However they all share one important
thing. They are deserving of our thanks, respect and gratitude for saying yes to service.
Regardless of the branch of service, length of service, MOS or location of service, they served and put
themselves in the position that if asked to place themselves in harm’s way for us and our freedom, they
said “Yes”

Global War on Terror (Oct 2001 - ) The Global War on Terror (GWOT), including Operation Enduring
Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), are ongoing conflicts.
Since the U.S. went to war in Afghanistan in 2001 and Iraq in 2003, about 2.5 million members of the
Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and related Reserve and National Guard units have been
deployed in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.
As of last September, more than 1.6 million military members who’d been deployed in what’s classified
as the global war on terror – in Iraq and Afghanistan, primarily – had transitioned to veteran status, VA
records show. Of those, about 1 million were from active-duty service and about 675,000 from Reserve
or guard deployments.
Saying Thank You really isn’t enough…..but we still say “Thank You”.

The Team of Cherokee Veterans Community along with other ministries and organization teams come
together to reach and help our veterans. Building ramps, fixing stairs, doing electronic and plumbing
issues are just a few of the things our veterans need. Cherokee Veterans Community has two mottos.
“We are Standing Strong Shoulder to Shoulder and We are Stronger Standing Together than
when we are standing alone.” These are not just words to us, it is our Mission and Purpose. Join us
as we reach out to our veterans and their families and help us to change lives. You don’t need to be
a veteran to be on a team. You only need a heart to serve those who serve us so bravely.

Growing Deeper
Sinking our roots in the soil of His Word

Going Deeper in our faith (Father, Son & Spirit) is something that has been sought by Christians since
Christ walked the earth. It is natural for Christians to desire, and to experience the closeness of an
intimate relationship with God. But true intimacy with God is not simply a feeling on a par with a romantic
relationship. It goes much deeper than emotions, it goes down to our very soul and is reflected by our
actions. True intimacy with God begins with drawing closer to Him.

When We Work Together, We Maximize Our Impact

By Rick Warren

“I tell you the truth, anything you did for even the least of my people here, you also did for
me” (Matthew 25:40 NCV).

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 says, “Two people are better than one, because they get more done by working
together. If one falls down, the other can help him up. But it is bad for the person who is alone and
falls, because no one is there to help. If two lie down together, they will be warm, but a person alone
will not be warm. An enemy might defeat one person, but two people together can defend
themselves; a rope that is woven of three strings is hard to break” (NCV).

This passage has a lot to say about serving with others in ministry, but it can be summarized in three
statements:

Standing Strong
Bear one another’s burdens, and so you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2

1. When we work together, we maximize our impact.

We get more done. Do you want to make a global impact with your life? Then do it with other people
in your church, because what we do together as the Body of Christ will be far more significant than
what we do individually. One drop of rain doesn’t make a big difference on a desert, but a million
drops of rain can turn that desert into a garden.

2. When we work together, we minimize our failure.

As Verse 10 asks, when you’re serving on your own and you fall down, who’s going to pick you up?
When we serve together and one person falls down, the other people just pick him up. Doesn’t that
make a simple but profound point? We need to work with other people to encourage each other and
minimize our failures.

3. When we work together, we mobilize our resources.

When we pool our resources and funds, they go further. You can share the blanket, and two people
will stay warm instead of one.

In Matthew 25:40, Jesus taught, “I tell you the truth, anything you did for even the least of my people
here, you also did for me” (NCV).

1Peter 4:10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful
stewards of God’s grace in its various forms
