I'm a pianist and am one since the age of seven.

Coming to IIT did'nt get in the

way of playing the piano as I always managed to take off some time from my
schedule. Therefore, I got the opportunity to participate in many competitions that
were organised by my institute as well as by others. I served as the Music
Representative to my hostel and was an active member of the IIT-Delhi Music Club. I
am very passionate regarding music and look forward to continue doing so at IIM-
Lucknow.

I am pursuing my bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, and much of what I have

been studying is pretty much related to the agribusiness.
I like challenges and the job of an agribusiness manager can be very challenging
owing to the sheer scale at which projects are handled in this business.

Constraints -

1. Although agriculture provides livelihood to more than half of the country's

workforce, it contributes to less than a
fifth to the GDP.
2. The per capita income of farmers is a fraction of the national average owing to
decreased incomes. This leads to a
lesser population taking up agriculture which further results in a
disproportionate growth of the industry in
response to a market that is known to have continuously expanding.
3. The trends in global agribusiness are changing at a rapid pace and the
traditional practices in agriculture seem
obsolete today. Since majority of the farmers continue to apply these methods,
it is perhaps a grave concern.

Solutions-

1. Educating the Indian farmers about the modern principles that are now being
applied to farming, so as to increase their
returns on their investments.
2. Establishing a direct link between the farmers and the industry will help in
boosting the growth of the agribusiness
sector.
3. With the increase in concern of the people over what they consume, for instance,
the nutrition content , carbohydrates
etc., focusing on the quality aspect of the finished product would go a long way
in the development of agribusiness in
the country.

ITC - They are one of the largest exporters of agri products from the country.
Hence, I'd like to be a part of an organization where I'd get exposure to the
business, such as ITC would provide me.
HUL - They are leaders in what they do, not just in India, but overseas too.
They've been in business for over 85 years now and I'd like to be part of an
organization with this much of experience to provide.
Amul - They need no introduction. Leading the market in dairy products, they've
continuously managed to maintain their dominance over the years.

Why?
After having spent almost 4 years at IIT-Delhi, what I've come to realize about
myself is that I'm pretty good at time management. I can say so because there were
times when I had to write 2 to 3 exams each day, for three days in a row and then
submit assignments and give presentations, on the fourth, and owing to my time
management skills, I was able to perform commendably well at all fronts. Apart from
this, growing up as a businessman's son, I have always looked up to my father as a
person who raised a business from ground zero to scale new heights. He turned his
life around for the good, and I'd like to do the same for myself. Therefore, I wish
to receive a formal training in business management.

Career Plans
As far as my career plans are concerned, right now I've set two goals for myself.
The short term goal is to get admitted into a reputed business school, while in the
future, I'd like to work with a firm that has been in business for a long period,
and learn from them how company operations are managed at the national or
international scale.

Most Significant Accomp

I consider passing the JEE and getting entry to a premier engineering school, as my
most significant accomplishment so far. Having competed in an exam, attended by
lakhs of students and having done well in that exam, boosted my confidence. It
helped me realize that no goal is too difficult to achieve, given, proper
dedication and toil are directed towards it.

Alternative Career Plans

If not management, I'll explore career avenues in Chemical Engineering, for now.
This is because, I want to witness how the education that I have received, is
applied in practical arena. Having said this, I will continue to keep looking for
any opportunities in Business Management, because I believe that, that's where I'll
ultimately end up landing.

Strengths and weaknesses

I consider myself to be hard working and well dedicated towards achieving a goal. I
have been managing my time smartly between academics and extra curricular
activities, pointing out that my time management skills are good. I am a fast
learner and always have had a knack for knowledge. I have worked as part of a team
and have led the team at many occasions, which has helped to hone my leadership
traits. However, above all, I consider my propensity towards planning for future
events, be it as short term as planning for what needs to be done the next day, to
long term possibilities such as career options, to be my most powerful suit.

I am human, and hence, am prone to some weaknesses as well. Working in groups, I've
come to realize that I can't trust some other person, in-charge of a task I know I
can do better. Hence, I tend to become impatient and take control over things. I,
sometimes underestimate the amount of time a task may require, and hence end up
rushing things in order to meet the deadline.
However, I have started to work on my weaknesses and have achieved some success in
overcoming them.
