including Filipino listeners.

Music is considered as a helping hand in improving the quality of one's life. In this research,

we will find out with the various data's presented from different perspective of each 3rd Year

BSCA student. This research will fill as to why 3rd Year BSCA students of LPU-Manila patronizes

foreign music. It includes how music listeners listens, give interest and its aftermath to one's mind.

II. Hypothesis

This research aims to answer the following questions:

1. How often do you listen to music?

2. Why do you like listening to foreign music?

3. What are the effects of foreign music to you as a 3rd year BSCA students of LPU-

Manila?

III. Objectives

The following are the objectives of this research:

1
1. To determine the how long an individual listen to music.

2. To determine the reasons why students listen to foreign music.

3. To determine the effects of listening foreign music to 3rd year BSCA students of

LPU-Manila.

IV. Research Design

This study used descriptive research design and questionnaire method for us to fully

describe and explain the topic. This method is the most common way in obtaining data which

includes the use of questionnaires.

V. Source of Data

The sources of data came from the 3rd year BS Customs Administration of Lyceum of the

Philippines University Manila.

VI. Determining Sample Size

There are 190 3rd year BSCA students: 38 students each 5 sections. And 10% margin of

error is expected.

N= 190

e= 10%

n= N/ 1+Ne2

= 190/1+ (190) (.10)2

2
= 190/ 2.9

n= 66 (sample size rounded off to whole number)

VII. Variables

The type of variable is dependent variable. Wherein the foreign music is the independent

variable and the 3rd BSCA students are the dependent variables.

VIII. Method of Collecting Data

One set of questionnaire was prepared for gathering the data. The questionnaire used in

the university is categorized in 3 parts.

First part deals with their time listening to music. Second part includes the reasons why

students listen to foreign music. And the third part shows the possible effects of foreign music to

them.

c. Mode

To find the value of the mode, we identify the score which occurs most

frequently.

d. Mean Deviation or Average Deviation

The Mean deviation or average deviation is defined as the average of the absolute

deviations of the individual values of a set of numerical data from either the mean,

median or the mode.

e. Variance

The variance is the average of the squared deviations from the mean.

f. Standard Deviation

The SD is the most important measure of variation. By knowing it, we will

be able to determine the position of the scores in a frequency distribution in relation

to the mean.

XIII. Conclusion

Based on the findings of the study, the researchers conclude that most of the students listens

to music every day. Moreover, they tend to listen to foreign music because they enjoy it. They

agree that the singer/singers is/are good looking. Unfortunately, majority said that they like it better

than OPM. The good part is, they are listening to it not because they just want to uptake the trends

nowadays.

Furthermore, the majority of them strongly agree that foreign music affects them

positively. From our gathered results, you can see that foreign music helps many of the 3 rd year

BS Customs Administration students of LPU-Manila to study their lessons.

The researchers learned that foreign music has a huge impact to the daily life of a student.

It is a must for us to patronize our own music. OPM is also as gentle, melodious and romantic as

foreign music. It is alright to listen to other country’s music but we have to put in our mind that

we can also nourished our own music, OPM, and it may be well-known to other countries also just

like foreign music.
