The sub-GPA is calculated by adding the ORPAS

total of 20 ORPAS course lengths. Where course
grades/lengths must be extracted from a grouping/
duration to make up the 20 course grades/lengths
required, the average of the next grouping/
duration of ORPAS GPA values will be used. In the
situation, where “Full-time”, “Supplementary” and
“Semester” durations exist for the same year, the
“Supplementary” grades will be used first, then
“Semester” and then “Full-time”.

A “Full-time” duration is a minimum of eight ORPAS

lengths. If an academic year (fall/winter) is less
than eight lengths, and courses were taken in the
summer, the summer courses will be combined with
the fall/winter courses, and the entire duration will
be considered “Supplementary”.

A license to practice physical therapy in Canada
is required in all provinces and territories. Upon
successfully completing the Physical Therapy
program at Western University, you may apply to
the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators
to take the clinical component of the Physiotherapy
Competency Examination. The written component
of this same exam may be done as early as the final
term in your final year or after graduating from the
program. Successfully completing both the written
and practical components of the national licensing
examination is required for licensure.

Most provinces in Canada require that you pass

both the written and clinical components of this
examination for licensure. However, each provincial
or territorial college should be contacted for their
specific requirements.
