My Heroic Journey:

Magical Weapons

The results from my VIA character strength evaluation showed my top 24 strengths

ranging from the most prevalent to the least. My strengths were assessed after I filled out a 96

questions survey, asking questions about my honesty, kindness, curiosity, and many other things.

When I got my results I was rather surprised, and as I read and analysed my strengths and virtues

I began to make sense of them in my head.

Bravery was the number strength on the list of 24. When I first saw this I didn’t really

think the test was accurate because I could’ve thought of so many other strengths to be my top

one. As I thought about it more and more I realized that I am a brave individual. I am not afraid

to push for what I want, no matter what people think of me, and I never back down from a

challenge. Coming to this realization really opened my eyes to the values I have but never really

paid attention to. I always stick up for myself and loved ones and this really factors in to my

stable social life in the sense that I am not afraid to let go of people that are not good for me. So

many great things in my life happened because of my bravery, I owe my success to it. When I

was younger I was always more of an introvert, always scared to ask for help and ashamed to

look weak, but as I’ve grown, my bravery has developed and it has helped me become a person

with integrity and humility.

The second strength that I saw also somewhat surprised me. Teamwork. Reflecting more

upon the meaning of this strength, it goes beyond working in a group for a class project. It

represents loyalty and doing your share for people. This really reflects my character because I am

a very loyal person whether its friends, family, or relationships. I never leave others who have

helped me build myself up into the person I am today for people who are insignificant to my

growth. I recognize my responsibilities and always make sure I do what I need to do. It also

shows that I am very understanding and I am open for different options and ways of executing

something. In a group, whether it’s in or outside of a classroom, I am a flexible person. I am very

proud to possess this trait because it means a lot more than what it looks like on the surface.

My third strength was curiosity. Now this one was very unique but also very true to me.

Curiosity is a strength of mine that I never really noticed until it was pointed out to me. When I

thought about what it meant, I realized that it is in everything I do. I love to explore and discover

new things, in the hopes to find more things I am passionate about. I am always looking for ways

to help others which also factors in to my future profession: medicine. Many of the activities I

involve myself in at school or outside of school are because I am curious to see how it will shape

me and what I will learn from it. I research, ask questions, explore for its own sake. Due to my

curiosity, I have found out that aside from the sciences, I enjoy reading fiction books, writing,

and learning about fashion. Through this strength I have found a balance, an equilibrium, of

things in my life.

This revelation of strengths opened my eyes to things I may have exercised but not really

known or recognized. I am really satisfied with my results and because of them I am the strong

successful person I am today. I know what I possess and what I must work on.
