Mu = 1.5 x 0.53 = 0.8 T-m/m
Using 12 mm dia bars,
Effective depth, d provided = 150 - 50 - 12/2 = 94 mm
d required = SQRT{0.8x10^7/(0.138x20x1000)} = 54 mm < d provided
Mu/bd2 = 0.8x10^7 / (1000x94^2) = 0.91 N/mm2 O.K.
Pt required = 0.216 % (Ref. Table 2 of
SP-16)
Ast required = 0.216 x 1000 x 94 / 100 = 203.04 mm2
Spacing required = 1000 x 113 / 203.04 = 557 mm
Provided reinforcement dia. = 10 mm
Spacing provided = 200 mm

Therefore, provide a reinforcement of 10F @ 200 mm c/c along both direction.

Ast provided = 393 mm2/m width

Pt provided = 0.418 %

Check for shear:

Max. Shear force at dist d, V = .28 x (0.425 - 0.094) = 2.1 T/ m width
Factored Shear force, Vu = 1.5 x 2.1 = 3.15 T
Nominal Shear stress, tv = (3.15x10000)/(1000 x 94) = 0.34 N/mm2
Design shear strength, (For Pt provided = 0.418 %) tc = 0.45 N/mm > tv

(As per Table 61 of SP-16)

Hence O.K.

Check for punching shear:

250
Area of critical section = (0.25+0.094)x(0.25+0.094) =
0.12 m2
Shear force = 6.28x (1.21-0.12) = 6.85 T 250
Factored Shear force, Vu = 1.5 x 6.85= 10.275 T
Periphery of critical section = 2 x {(0.25+0.094)+(0.25+0.094)} 1.38 m
Nominal Shear stress, tv = (10.275x10000)/(1380x94) = 0.792 N/mm2
Permissible shear stress = ks x tc
ks = (0.5 + bc)
bc = short side of column / long side of column = 1
Therefore, ks = 0.5 + 1 = 1.5 » 1.0
tc = 0.25Öfck = 1.25 N/mm 2

Therefore, ks x tc = 1.25 N/mm2 > 0.792 N/mm2

Hence o.k.
