INITIAL PILE LOAD TEST REPORT FOR TP - 3


1. PREAMBLE
This report is prepared based on the field observations recorded for the Initial Pile
Load Test for TP-3 carried out at location Chainage Km 23+985 at Chandapura
started on 30 August 2008 and ended on 1 September 2008 as per method
statement submitted for approval. This document is to be read in conjunction with
the method statement for the Initial pile load test submitted earlier.

2. TEST METHOD:
Cyclic Load method has been followed as described in the Method Statement.

3. PREPERATION OF LOAD TEST ARRANGEMENTS:


Load test arrangements have been made as per the method statement.

4. PILE RIG BORE DATA:

Temporary Liner was placed up 2 m to m, which has been withdrawn after concreting.
Concrete, reinforcement and anchor details have been attached with the Method
statement.

5. CYCLIC LOAD TEST & TEST RESULTS:


Cyclic Load Test:
• As instructed by the representative of IC, the loading was done at the
following Jack pressures and Loads (Four nos Hydraulic Jacks used):
o 33bar 104 MT
o 67bar 208 MT
o 99bar 312 MT
o 133bar 416 MT
o 167bar 520 MT
o 198bar 624 MT
o 231bar 728 MT
o 265bar 832 MT
o 298bar 936 MT
o 331bar 1040 MT
o 375bar 1144 MT
o 416bar 1300 MT

• Readings of dial gauges and scales were recorded before every loading
and before unloading as well as at about 15min intervals in between.
Unloading at each cycle has been started only when the criteria fixed as
per method statement has been met with.

• The test was conducted up to 416 bar pressure i.e., 1300MT (250%
Loading), and the same load was maintained for 24 hours before
unloading.

• The total settlement at this load was 7.805 mm. The observed test pile
record is enclosed as Annexure – 1.

• The observed readings of settlements before loading and before unloading


have been tabulated and the load settlement curve has been drawn.
(Annexures –2 & 3)

• The Load vs Settlement curve is drawn.

6. CONCLUSION:

As per Clause 6.1.5 of IS: 2911 (Part 4) – 1985 the safe load on single pile for the
initial test should be least of the following:

• Two- thirds of the final load at which the total displacement attains a
value of 12mm.

• 50 percent of the final load at which the total displacement equal to


10 percent of the pile diameter.

Total settlement of pile at 1300 MT was 7.805 mm i.e., the capacity of the Pile
is two thirds of 1300MT i.e. 886.67 MT against a designed capacity of 520MT.
