• INTRODUCTION : We all know Railway established in 1850 which means
150 years ago when Britishers gave us the direction of development in
transportation and economy. Today Railway plays a key role in transportation.
It not only gives the ease of transportation but it also gives good facilities at
reasonable rates. So it needs timely renovation or redevelopment and design
sustainable structure so that it would be long lasting and eco-friendly.
Redevelopment means to improve an area with the understanding of previous
problems and the future problems and design with sustainable so that it
contain maximum functionality, lack of problems and a good environment to
users.
• HISTORIC CONTEXT: Basically idea of establishment of railways in India
came from London in 1840s.For a century thereafter the basic policies and
ultimate management of the Indian railways were issued from London. The
British railways in India in order to intermesh the economies of the two
countries. The Railway Age dawned in India on 16th April 1853, when the
first train ran from Thane. With this Railways also focus on its infrastructure.
Several offices and amenities was build which is attached to Railway Stations.
Most of the officers are Britishers and they controlled the whole railway. The
first proposals for construction of Railways in India were presented in
1844 to East India Company in London by ,(a) East India Railway
Company headed by R.McDonald Stephenson , and (b) Great Indian
peninsula Railway Company.
• George Stephenson the great British Locomotive inventor was one the first
Directors Of GIPR and his son Robert Stephenson were appointed as the
consulting engineer based at London.
• AIM
• The aim of the project is to provide architectural solutions by developing the
existing terminal with consideration of the current scenario as well as
foreseeing the future growth of DELHI and to build a new terminal which
provides access and security for the passengers who need to get to the
second and third platform without any hassle. $ll in all giving the passengers
a very captivating welcome to the city of DELHI by designing a railway
terminal which fulfils international standards
• OBJECTIVE

 To widen and organize the platforms in such a manner to avoid overcrowding


at peak hours.
 To provide separate entry and exit so that the passenger movement is one
way.
 To make the structure entirely barrier free.
 To make an architectural statement in the building so as to treat as though
it(s agateway to the city.
 To improve the existing parking by providing more space to park their
vehicles and better movement of vehicles to avoid confusion.
 To ease the access from the main road to the station.
 To develop more pedestrian friendly connections between various related
nodes.

SCOPE

 Detail design and planning of various spaces like offices ,amenities and
station area etc.
 Landscape design
 Electrical and plumbing services to be carried out
 Commercial area development

Railway plays a vital road in transportation of goods , services and passenger
From the very beginning when railway introduced in india.it is the lifeline of
Country which should be perfect in function and facilities. Now a days people
Wants good service when they spend a good amount of money also the area
Should be multifunctional so that various activities can be carried out. Station
Which established by the britisher are in poor condition . Redevelopment or
redesigning of railway station can give us a good and better solution by which
We can fulfill are needs.

• The Project Site is located in South-West of Delhi, within Planning Zone


(Division) ‘K-II’ of the National Capital Territory, as per the Delhi
Development Authority. It lies inclose of proximity to Sector-21 Metro
Station (served by Airport express and Blue Linemetro lines) on the West
and a proposed ISBT coming up in Dwarka. It is also in theclose proximity
to India Gandhi International Airport at the East

• The existing Bijwasan station lies on the North and Shahbad


Mohammadpur station lieson the South of the project site respectively. The
project site is located on the Delhi-Rewari railway section of the east
bound Northern Railways.
• The Urban Extension Road (UER) -II with 100m ROW is running through
the proposedsite and provides a primary connection from Dwarka to NH-8
and also Indian GandhiInternational Airport on the East of project site.

• The project site is flanked by residential area/built-up areas of Dwarka and


Palam onits north, west and north-west. Villages such as Bagdola and
Bhartal are alsosurrounding the station area.
• The Government of Delhi is planning to develop an Inter State Bus
Terminal (ISBT)adjoining the railway land on the west. Second diplomatic
enclave, is also being planned to come up in sector 26-29. An International
Convention and Exhibition Center has been planned by DDA in sector 24.
An Integrated freight complex is also proposed as part of Master Plan 2021
of Delhi.

• Overall, it may be concluded that the site is very well-connected by road,

robust potential for mixed use realestate development due to availability of
land in a prime location.
• The land proposed for development through the bidding process presently
called by IRSDC isencumbrance free, in full possession of Indian Railways
and ready for development.

Benefits from the Project

• The benefits from the project are listed below:


• This will be an exclusive transit interchange facility in the South-West region
of NCT of Delhi, which shall bring about huge savings in time and cost of the
facility users andtherefore, will be a major place of attraction in terms of
footfalls.
• 2. The project shall provide a World-class station infrastructure with various
facilities forthe convenience of its users.
• 3. The commercial development alongside the station development will lead
to provisionof other facilities like hotel, retail, office spaces, commercial
complex and markets etc.
• 4. This project shall have huge economic benefits in terms of increased
employment,reduced environmental pollution and overall improvement in the
living standard of thein the catchment area of the project.

CASE STUDY , AANAND VIHAR NEW DELHI
aanand vihar terminal , station code anvt , is a railway station in the
aanand vihar locality of delhi, india it is under the administrative control
of the delhi division of the nothern railway zone of the indian railways.
this station was officially inaugurated on 19 dec 2009 by the than union railway
Minister , mamata banerjee and chif minister of delhi , sheila dikshit . the terminal
spread over 42 hectares (100acres) is one of the largest railway stations and will
cater to all east - bound trains from delhi after the second phase becomes
operational
