ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The author hereby acknowledges the following persons who are one way or another
contributed in the completion of this work.

To Prof. Julius C. Lagua, DAT- BAT Program Chairman, for his continuous fatherly support and
encouragement which inspires the author to do his task against all odds and end he encountered

To Engr. Raphy A. Sugue, his technical adviser for his suggestion, support and kindness that
made this task accomplished so easily and for being responsible teacher with a sense of humor which
eases all his burdens.

To Mr. Patrick O. Bete, for his care in moments of hardship and for his kindness.

To his loving parents for the continuous support despite of their present financial condition.

Above all, to Almighty God, who gave him the intelligence, physical strength and knowledge and
wisdom to accomplish this project.
CHAPTER 1

Eggplant is a widely cultivated as perennial Asian herb ( Solanum melongena) of the night shade
family yielding edible fruit.

Eggplant production can be successful on any good agricultural by using appropriate

management methods. Eggplant is the top source of vitamin A and C. It also contains significant amount
of dietary fiber. Eggplant production has distinct recipes stewed and processed into various recipes such
as pinakbet and etc.
OBJECTIVES OF THE REPORT

General Objectives

The general objectives of the report are to develop student’s proficiency in agricultural
skills through actual experiences.

Specific Objectives

1. To develop manipulative skills in eggplant production

2. To develop practical and managerial skills in agricultural productivity
3. To apply appropriate agricultural techniques learned in the class room into actual
filed situation.
CHAPTER II

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

OBJECTIVES OF THE REPORT

The eggplant production is implemented by the project proponents to achieve the following
objectives:

1. To develop necessary skills in eggplant production.

2. To learn by doing
3. To develop entrepreneurial skills and income.
4. To provide quality eggplant and following the adapted cultural practices.

DISCUSSION

Procurement of seeds and other materials seeds and Inorganic fertilizer were bought at Aves
Agricultural Supply at Benito Soliven, Isabela.

Land Preparation

The area was cleared from weeds and other previous vegetable residues. After which
the area was plowed and harrowed. This was done in order to totally clear the area and properly
pulverized the soil.

Two plots were farmed using grub hoe and shovel with a dimension of 0.5m by 15cm
with an alley way of 30cms between the plots. Holes were also established on the plots at the distance.

Seedbed Preparation and seedling production

A seedbed measuring 0.5 meters and 2.0 meters was constructed. The soil was
pulverized thoroughly mixed with compost and leveled. Seed were sown evenly onto the seedbed and
sprinkled with water. This was monitored daily until the seedling was ready for transplanting.

Transplanting

Only the most vigorous stocky and disease free seedlings with 3-5 true leaves were
transplanted at a distance of 60cm between hills and 1 meter between rows.
Fertilization

Twenty five grams of triple 14 mixed with ample amount of compost were applied on
holes of transplanting side dressing was also done by applying one teaspoon of urea per plant at
fourteen and twenty five days respectively after transplanting.

Water Management

The plants were watered when necessary it is desirable that plants receive sufficient
moisture from the early stage of growth until the early fruiting stage.

Cultivation and weeding is also need by the plant. The operation was done to till the
weeds and accrete the soil

Pest Management

Eggplant borer was observed damaging the plants. However, this was controlled by
spraying botanical pesticide using hot pepper and powder soap.

Harvesting was done by simply picking. Harvesting was done in the morning and afternoon at
five days interval or as soon as marketable size fruits were developed and whenever there are orders.

Marketing the harvest fruit were sold to the teachers, students in the campus while excess
produce were sold to the different barangays nearby through house to house basis.

Record keeping

All activities and expenditures in the production were properly recorder and well kept
to determine whether the project is profitable or not.
CHAPTER III

SUMMARY

EGGPLANT PRODUCTION

Eggplant ( Solanom Metongenal) is a popular vegetable crop in the subtropics and

tropics. It is called bringal in India and owbergine in Europe. Eggplant is derived from the shape
of the fruit of the same varieties, which are white and shape similarly to chicken egg. Eggplant
is a warm season crop. It requires a long warm season for a successful production which
requires an optimum temperature for growth and fruit development of 21 to 29 degrees
centigrade. It is intolerant to frost and the growth of young plants will be retarded from night
temperatures are below 16 degrees on the flowering plants, both cool temperature and low
light intensity can cause pollen incompatibility and failure of fruit set.
CHAPTER IV

PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED AND RECOMMENDATION

Mentioned below are the problems encountered by the students during the conduct of the
project:

1. Minimal knowledge about the cause of disease of eggplant production

2. Unpredictable weather condition
3. Financial constraints

From the problem encountered above, the following solutions are therefore recommended:

1. Gathering Information
2. Proper time of establishment of broader project
3. If necessary, group members should pay the agreed contribution.
CHAPTER V

CONCLUSION

Before conduct a project, think more about the season of the crop when is the best time to
plant your commodity. To make your product will gain profitable and successful.
