The premise:
After years of working alongside evil brain surgeon Dr. Brantly, Dexter decides that his latest
scheme may indeed be his last.

The logline:
Setting up a lair in the basement of a hospital and slowly collecting world renown scientists to
power his knowledge enhancing helmet, Dr. Hugo Brantly feels as though his plan to become the
most knowledgeable and powerful doctor in the world is starting to come together. This is until
his mistreated sidekick Dexter decides that he has had enough of walking in Dr. Brantly's shadow
and uses the helmet for himself.

Characters:

Start:

Act 1:
(Medium long shot) Scene opens with the camera at ground level facing a hospital door.
The door then opens and Brantly exits, walking closer to the camera.
Brantly the stops.

Noise of a television - News bulletin - Presenters talking

Camera slowly moves up Brantly's body until it shows Brantly's face, it then stops and shows Brantly looking from left to right in search of the noise from the television.

(Medium long shot) Camera showing Brantly from the waist up, the camera follows Brantly as he moves (to the right) down the corridor towards the noise.

(Long shot) Brantly then stops and reaches for the door handle (to his left).

(Close up) (from the door handle's perspective - Looking up at Brantly's face) Showing Brantly reaching for the handle and opening it.

(Over the shoulder shot) Shows Brantly looking in the 'staff room' at the television.

(Close up) of television showing the news bulletin talking about famous scientists worldwide going missing and missing persons cases have opened.

(Close up) Brantly's face smirking.

(Long shot) Brantly closing the door to the 'staff room', leaving the room. He backs out of the door way, walking away from the camera to a lift.

(Close up) Brantly pressing the lift button

(Medium long shot) Brantly getting in the lift and pressing a button. Door closes.

(Fly on the wall shot) in the lift - like a CCTV camera - shows Brantly slowly moving from side to side like he's impatiently waiting.

Act 2:

(Point of view shot - Brantly) The lift opens revealing the hospital basement - lots of boxes and old machinery.

(Point of view shot - Dexter) - low on the ground, as though Dexter is hiding behind the boxes looking through the gaps between them at Brantly. The camera moves
slowly - the camera is tracking Brantly as he moves towards a room in the basement and opens the basement room door.

(Long shot) Showing the side of Brantly while opening the door.

Brantly - "YES!"

(Close up) Brantly's face.

Brantly - "Dexter! My work looks fantastic!"

(Long shot - head height, as though Brantly is looking at the floor behind him) showing Dexter walking out from behind the boxes.

(Close up) Dexter's neck while walking into the light - shows a speech device attached to his neck - shows that the device is working.

Dexter - "I know sirrr, I always seem to make your creations bett.."

(Long shot) Silhouette of Brantly's body in the doorway.

Brantly - "ENOUGH!"

Close up) Brantly's mouth to the left of the shot- showing Dexter in the background to the right of Brantly's mouth.
Brantly - "The only thing that could ever make my creations better is me!"
Brantly walks away off shot (to the left of the camera) leaving Dexter to the right of the camera - sad expression on his face.

(Medium close up) Dexter's face (still sad), camera then 'jumps' closer to Dexter's face.

[FLASH BACK]

(Medium long shot) Dexter being kicked out of the house by Brantly - Dexter goes off camera.

(Medium long shot) Tools being thrown at Dexter by Brantly - Dexter running off camera (left).

(Medium close up) Dexter on a chair testing the a prototype of the helmet for Brantly - then being zapped.

[BACK TO CURRENT TIME]

(Close up) Dexter's face changes from sad to smirking

Brantly - "DEXTER!"

Dexter - "Coming sir..."



Act 3:

(Tracking shot) at the side of Dexter - showing him walking into the basement room.

(Point of view shot - Dexter) Dexter looks from right to left - showing unconscious famous scientists with their skulls open, wires are attached to their brains which are
then attached to Brantly's knowledge helmet - scientists tide to chairs - Brantly is shown sitting down in the middle chair with the knowledge helmet above his head.

Brantly - "Turn it on cat"

(Close up) Central - Dexter's angry face while walking to the isolator switch.

(Over the shoulder shot) Dexter smirking looking over his shoulder at Brantly.

Brantly - "Get on with it!"

(Close up) Dexter's paws pulling the isolator switch down.

(Close up) Knowledge helmet starting to lower over Brantly's head.

(Medium close up) Dexter starting to run at Brantly, Dexter the jumps.

(Medium long shot) Slow motion - Dexter is shown knocking Brantly sideways off of the chair and shows Brantly falling to the right onto the floor.

(Close up) Dexter's head under the knowledge helmet - electric shock

(Extreme close up) Brantly's face in shock.



Scene fades in from black. The camera is on ground level and is using a medium long shot to focus on the bottom of a hospital door. The camera continues to shoot, showing
Dr. Brantly’s feet coming around the door as he is walking out of it. Dr. Brantly then walks closer to the camera until an extreme close up is shown of his foot stopping in front
of the camera. Noise of News report from the Television is heard. The camera then zooms out to a medium close up and starts to move up Dr. Brantly’s body until it stops at his
face, showing Brantly looking around trying to locate the noise. The camera then goes to a medium long shot showing Brantly from the waist up. The camera starts to track
Brantly as he walks to the left down the corridor. He then stops and turns to look left at the ‘staff room’ door. A long shot is then used to show Brantly from the side reaching
for the door handle. A close up is then used from the door handle’s perspective, looking up at Brantly as he grabs the door handle – camera fades to black as the door handle
is grabbed. The camera then overs to an over the shoulder shot of Brantly opening the door where, once opened, the viewers are able to see the Television in front of them
showing the News bulletin. The camera then zooms in to a close up of the Television showing the News bulletin. Brantly’s face is then shown smirking in a close up. A long shot
is then used to show Brantly closing the door and leaving the room. In the same shot Brantly backs out of the doorway and walks down the corridor away from the camera
towards the lift. An extreme close up of Brantly pressing the lift’s button in then shown. Noise of the lift opening.
A medium long shot is used to show Brantly getting into the lift – from the corridor’s perspective. While Brantly is in the lift a fly on the wall perspective is used – like a CCTV
camera – showing Brantly facing away from the camera swaying from side to side.
The camera uses a point of view shot – Brantly’s point of view - to show the lift door opening to show the Hospital basement. Another point of view shot is then shown –
switched to Dexter’s perspective – looking between boxes at Brantly who is walking towards the basement room. In the same shot Brantly is also shown opening the door. A
long shot showing Brantly from the left hand side is used as Brantly has opened the door. Brantly – “Yes!” Brantly’s face is then shown in a close up while he speaks. Brantly –
“Dexter! My work looks fantastic!” The camera is then placed at head height using a long shot to show Dexter walking out from behind the boxes. A close up of Dexter’s neck,
showing the speech device, is then show as he walks from the dark into the light. Dexter – “I know sirrr, I always seem to make your creations bett..” A long shot of Brantly’s
silhouette is then shown in the basement room’s doorway, looking at the back of Brantly. Brantly – “ENOUGH!” Close up of Brantly’s mouth is shown to the left of the camera,
Dexter is visable on the right in the background. Brantly – “The only thing that could ever make my creations better is me!” Brantly then walks away off shot to the left of the
camera showing Dexter (sad expression). Dexter’s face is then focused on using a close up which then jumps to an extreme close up of his face. [Flash back queued] Dexter is
shown being kicked out of Brantly’s house using a medium close up, the camera then cuts to shows tools being thrown at Dexter by Brantly, the camera then shows Dexter on
a chair being zapped. [Back to current time] A close up shows Dexter’s face smirking. Brantly – “DEXTER!”. Dexter – “Coming sir”.

A tracking shot is then used to show Dexter, from his left hand side, walking into the Hospital basement room. As Dexter enters the room, a point of view shot – Dexter’s
point of view – is used to show the unconscious scientists with their skulls opening and wires coming out of their brains while they sit in the capture chairs. The camera then
looks central to show Brantly is sitting in the chair in the centre between the unconscious scientists. Brantly – “Turn it on cat!” A close up shows Dexter’s face (angry) while
walking to the isolator switch. An over the shoulder shot is used to show Dexter’s head turning and smirking while looking over his should at Brantly. Brantly – “GET ON WITH
IT!” A close up is used to show Dexter’s paw pulling the isolator switch. The camera then cuts to show a close up of the knowledge helmet starting to lower onto Brantly’s
head. A medium close up then shows Dexter starting to run at Brantly, Dexter then jumps. A slow motion medium long shot is shown of Dexter knocking Brantly (to the
right) off of the chair. In the same shot Brantly is shown falling. A close up is then shown of Dexter’s head under the knowledge helmet and an electric shock is shown. An
extreme close up is then used to show Brantly’s face in shock. The scene then fades to black.

Dr. Hugo Brantly is a very successful brain surgeon who is
able to perform brain surgeries single handedly due to
his skill and knowledge. He likes the fact that the patients
and other doctors admire and acknowledge his work. He
seems like a normal, kind, intelligent man but he has a
dark side to him. He enjoys studying the brain’s memory
capacity and wants to enlarge his in order to become the
most successful doctor in the world. He then hopes that
one day he will become world leader.

Dexter is a very kind hearted cat who enjoys being able to


work alongside Dr. Brantly and talking to him due to the
speech device Dr. Brantly had created for him. Although he is a
caring cat, after years of working for Dr. Brantly, Dexter has had
enough of being mistreated and wants to get revenge.
