BIDI WORKERS SCHEME

In order to raise the living standard of the Bidi Workers, the central Govt. Give
a subsidy of Rs.20,000/- per house. The State Govt. also issues a similar subsidy of
Rs.20, 000/- per house for the Bidi workers eligible under the Central Govt.
guidelines. The State Govt.'s subsidy is disbursed through MHADA.
The following Bidi workers Housing schemes are completed or in progress at
Solapur and Nasik.

The State Govt. has so far issued a subsidy of Rs.2242.68 lakh for the above scheme.
MHADA has constructed 3148 houses at Solapur for the bidi workers. Govt. of India
and Govt.of Maharashtra has given a subsidy of Rs.5000/- each per house.
Besides Mhada has constructed 5595 houses for the bidi workers at following cities.

The state Govt. has issued a subsidy of Rs.300.83 lakh for the above houses.
For 527 at Kamtee, Nagpur the subsidy is Rs.9000/- per house while for all the
remaining houses at Kamtee and houses at Solapur the subsidy of Rs.5000/- per house
was given.
