Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,

nach unseren Informationen richtet die Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Berlin im Zuge der
anstehenden Wahlen in Birma(Burma) ein Politisches Seminar am 17.September aus.

Zu unserer großen Bestürzung werden als Referenten dieses Seminars Dr. Khin Zaw Win,
civil society facilitator, International Development Enterprises, Burma und Dr. Nay Win
Maung, co-founder und secretary general of civil society group Myanmar Egress,
Herausgeber von Living Colour magazine und the The Voice Weekly von Burma genannt.
Dr. Khin Zaw Win referiert „Birma/Myanmar zu den Wahlen: Parteipolitik und die Rolle des
Militärs und der Oppositionsgruppen in der Vorbereitungsphase“, während Dr. Nay Win
Maung „Boykott gegen Verpflichtung liefert: Die Wahlen als Gelegenheit für demokratische
Änderung“.

Beide Referenten sind Fürsprecher der regierenden Junta und daher in keinerlei Weise
geeignet über diese so genannte "freie Wahl", von demokratischen Kräften verurteilt als
weder FAIR noch FREI, zu informieren.

Unverständlich ist warum die Friedrich Ebert Stiftung keine Anfrage an burmesische
demokratische Organisationen in Deutschland oder England , wie NLD oder Burma Büro
Köln gestellt hat.

Wir fordern Sie daher als demokratische Organisation auf die Auswahl Ihrer Referenten zu
überdenken und für Ihre demokratischen Prinzipien einzustehen.
