The youth today more concern of matter or obtain their resources and entertainment mostly
by visual video of movies, channels, sitcom series etc. making it the norm of the modern era. Even
though human is perceptive with their five senses of sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch, from
2D,3D and 4D concept of visual, these makes our sense of imagination blunt. Thus, the conflict of
the pen and the sword will be answered in this article to resolve the modern youth dilemma.

Visual medias are perceived as it should be. The sound effect and visual effect as well as
physical effect is the euphoria offered in the visual media for entertainment even resource of
knowledge. Visual media are very interactive and addictive. Even though the visual media have
inscribed with moral values and lessons to be learnt, most youth disregard the very essence of these
purpose of media instead more mesmerized of the perceived sight and hearing effect offered by
the movies and the tv series. Most of the media inspiration nowadays originated and resided in
books or literal media.

The pen works to write and with writing, resulted in books to read. In the golden days of
knowledge, books are the treasure of knowledge and entertainment resources. The stringent of
words and phrases is like painter with his strokes where they put their heart and soul for people of
all ages to immerse in their masterpiece. Books being written for a purpose to give out different
perspective and point of view even if the genre are fiction or non-fiction. To be known books re
the first media that outline importance of plot sequence which now been implemented in the
movies.

Now let make one thing clear in this dilemma, youth are being inactive in reading which
brings to less writing and more youth is on graphic or animated and live action in the visual media.
This is may be influence by man natural desire to be doing activity that can give less effort to
achieve. This may seem to be normal but this emphasize the reasons of why modern youth being
less industrious in life because in relevance of the modern millennium, pen is not mightier than
the sword where the visual media representing the sword where youth are “forced” rather to be
less contemplative in pronouncing ideas and perspective as well as principle of one’s self
philosophy.

The pen representing the open and free ability for books to develop and influence own’s
idea ad standing in the world’s occurrences and knowledge. Books and literal media has become
a second grade and how the culture of reading is deteriorating in most country. Perhaps the youth
is more intent to follow the millennium trend and norms, and live out the traditional way makes
writing less important and visual media to be stereotypically popular. If you ask most youth today,
they would not know famous writing persona like William Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe, Lewis
Carroll where most of their work have been remade into live-action movie and serial cartoons
where their ancient plot idea still conquer the hearts of youth but through simplification of the
visual media and none of the message to be portrayed by the books is inclusive.

Books give the opportunity for the reader to interpret by their capacity to imagine the plot
settings from character, place, time and condition of the story. How empowerment can literal
media give which is an understatement of the youth today. Books is a given adventure that own
for one to get to know how life works, different character handles their plight in interesting and
unexpected ways and these books may open our eyes to new experience and make you prepare in
what may come a challenge or dilemma to oneself and people around you. Books are the battlefield
for the pen can be the warrior, one true deliverance for one to achieve one’s own wisdom.

If you say books are merely fantasy and full of gobbledygook nonsense, think again. How
advancement books make and how they are the main reason visual media are established. Most
movie and interesting drama series are inspired by the people of the pen. Some people deems books
turn movies are good enough, but for this writer opinion movies are complementary desserts to the
main dish which everyone who are interested in such movies should turn their interest to the
inspired books as one cannot fit multitude of life values and wisdom in a one to two-hour film

If you say books are nothing but broken record of good versus evil and love riddled themes,
guess again. The genre of books can be generic in book labelling and let us admit it is difficult to
practice “don’t judge the book by its cover” because how important a person’s appeal can be the
factor of interest which the same can be said about books. Books should not be read by the genre
but the theme and themes of the book are the foundation of any book that can be said the strength
the pen. The themes can be profoundly new and complicated to some people which can be
widening our maturity and span of thought and understanding.

Even at the expense of the benefit of pen, youth still favors visual media as they are more
perceptive to the manifestation of action and effect which easy for them to enjoy the story based
on the director and the producer perception of the story. This is the dilemma to be in forced with
visual media that gives the literal meaning of the story plot or the books written by the pen that
can be contemplative of its literal meaning and hidden meaning as both of the media are
agathokakological. Dilemma of the youth over literal media and visual media demonstrates that
the pen is not mightier than the swords as actions speaks louder than words even if words are the
primary influence of actions. What paradox have the world come to be and the youth are the main
contributors to it.
