Our earth is surrounded by 70% of water. Out of which only 2.5% is fresh water.

70% of
this fresh water is frozen in Antarctica and Greenland. Therefore, only 1% of water is
available for our usage. We use water in our daily life for almost everything such as
cooking, washing, bathing, toilet, etc. If we recycle water for these purposes, demand for
fresh water can be reduced. Therefore, it is important to treat sewage and reuse this
treated effluent for washing, floor cleaning etc.

In a world where vital resources are increasingly scarce, nations cannot afford to flush
them down the drain. But that is exactly what we do. Waste water is rich in carbon and
nutrients and – if collected and treated properly – it could provide new water, fertilizer,
and energy.

In a city like Mumbai, where the population is in abundance, the quantity of wastewater
generated is huge yet wasted inspite of having huge potential for recycle and reuse. The
annual rainfall of Mumbai is about 242.2 cm. With heavy rainfall, clogged drains and
lack of space for utilities, the people in Mumbai need to find a solution, an integrated
solution that can meet all the needs.

An integrated STP occupies less space than the ordinary ones. It has potential for
recycling and can meet the optimum standards as prescribed by the government. Some
of the perks include-

 Zero malodors
 Low Operational Cost
 Portability for Plant
 Space saver
 Highly Aesthetic
 Prompt service and backup
 Satisfies pollution norms
 Energy Efficient

All the waste water includes of fluid wastes which comes out from the restroom, laundry
places, bathroom, kitchens and other water sources. The wastewater is of 2 kinds: the
Grey water and the black water. The Grey water is liquid squandered from washing
dishes and garments and showers. The black water comprises of excrements. The
sewage treatment plants make utilization of the advanced bio filters, septic tanks or
anaerobic treatment frameworks to treat the wastewater. Each city has organized and
lawful channel for getting the sewage to the appropriate surface aerators.
Residential waste water treatment principally deals with the black water. However,
Black water results in the development of pathogenic microorganisms which if not
treated and used in a wrong way can cause infections and are harmful. The treatment of
Black water goes through an important stage before it might be discharged to the
streams, lakes, and other water bodies.

With a daily sewage flow from 200 household, one can potentially-

 Reuse water for construction and curing of 57600 sqft of concrete

 Irrigate 5.5 acres of greenbelt per day
 Flush toilets 22500 times each day
 Wash 3000 vehicles
 Groundwater recharge up to 135cubic meter/day

Although most water recycling projects have been developed to meet non-potable water
demands, a number of projects use recycled water indirectly for potable purposes. An
integrated STP can be used for recharging ground water aquifers and augmenting
surface water reservoirs with recycled water. In ground water recharge projects, recycled
water can be spread or injected into ground water aquifers to augment ground water
supplies. Also, for non-potable uses, the recycled water can be used for gardening or
landscaping, flushing toilets, etc.

With land requirement of about 47.37% less and power requirement of 51.71% lesser
than the conventional STP designs, Techniche provides a predominantly used high and
predictable level of biological wastewater treatment, in the most compact manner.
