TUCKER

DeKalb, Tucker partner

on recycling bin exchange
BY CARLA PARKER
carla@dekalbchamp.com

Tucker residents can now trade in their recycling bins

for new and bigger ones.
The city and DeKalb County’s Sanitation Department
will host the “Recycling Roll Cart Exchange Program” March
24, noon to 3 p.m. at Tucker Recreation Center. Residents
can trade 18-gallon bins for new 35- or 65-gallon roll carts.
DeKalb Sanitation is ending its collection of 40-gallon bags
and 18-gallon bins and moving to bigger roll carts.
Tucker City Community Connector Sonja Szubski said
in a press release that the exchange is a significant change
to how residents have put out their recycling for years.
“Our partners at DeKalb Sanitation understand that and
were happy to help us schedule this event to ensure that
Tucker’s residents can easily trade in their bins and see no
interruption in their recycling pickup,” she said.
Upgrading to a 35-gallon roll cart is free for customers,
while the 65-gallon roll cart will cost $15. Only 500 roll
carts will be available at the event, but sanitation officials
will be on-site to help residents complete a form to have
carts delivered to their homes, according to the city.
For more information, visit the DeKalb Sanitation
website at www.dekalbcountyga.gov/sanitation/about-
sanitation. Tucker residents can trade in their recycling bins for a bigger one at a March 24 event. Photo from www.
