GROUP NO. 3 VENTURI METER RATING:

I. OBJECTIVE:
To determine the discharges and the discharge coefficient of a venturi meter in a
pipeline.

II. APPARATUS AND MATERIALS:

 Hydraulics Lab Set Up
 Graduated Cylinder
 Stopwatch
 Container
 Manometer

III. PROCEDURE:
1. Fill the tank with water until establishing stationary head.
2. Open the valve in the pipeline with the venture meter and regulate the rise of
mercury in the manometer.
3. Note the pressure differences in the manometer.
4. Catch the jet of the water from the discharge end of the pipe with a container and
timing it.
5. Compute the discharge coefficient based on the theoretical and actual discharges.

VII. ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION

The goal of our experiment is to determine the discharge coefficient of a venture
meter based on the flow of fluid flowing within it. We conclude in the experiment that
the pressure in each tube is different based on the distance of a tube in the water
supply/inlet. To compute the discharge coefficient of water flowing from the
apparatus, we gather data by catching the jet of water by a container as much as
possible to attain the given level of fluid. Based from the result, the experiment is a
success, because we came up acquiring the discharge coefficient of water in our
experiment.
