Initially while looking for a topic I wanted something that has barely anything to do with

the United States. I was avoiding the U.S. due to it being one of the most prevalent knowledge of

history since we are currently in the U.S. While on the hunt for this topic I was looking at how

U.N. recognized nations came to be and stumbled upon China’s story involving Taiwan. Even

though the United Nations-backed Taiwan as the one true China before 1971 it posed interesting

questions such as why was the Republic of China (Taiwan), who was one of the founding

members of the U.N., be kicked out?

While looking at the current information found I was thinking about a website or a

documentary. I ended up choosing the website due to it being more forgiving on my busy

schedule. Also, it allowed better visualization in my case for the actions and people involved in

the Chinese Civil War. Then lastly I would not need access to a camera or microphone and I

could work easier with the equipment I have already had.

While completing my research I happened to stumble upon a gallery of photos by Getty

Images that showed what I was looking for within visual representation. But, while completing

this project we saw another major theme of how the two main political forces unite when a third

party tried to interfere. Then the next step of my research was to create categories in which all

the information found would fall under to give the website a better flow.

Lastly, the way The Chinese Civil War falls into the category of Conflict and

Compromise is very obvious but slightly unique in its case. The way it was unique was that after

the Civil War the trend shown doesn’t follow the same trend that the U.S. Civil War had.

Instead, they stayed separate after the war and just continue to cooperate. It follows the conflict

part by showing and highlighting the two Chinese political groups fight against each other since

they were doing what they felt was right for the Mainland China. Also since it was a physical

conflict where people died for their cause. Then for the Compromise, we see when they unite

against Japan during the Second Sino-Japanese War which is unique since it is the civil war

where the Chinese Civil War was paused then resumed for another war. Another point towards

compromise is the in the present day they cooperate on political and social issues such as

education to better each others government.
