MINNESOTA METRODOME

 An air-supported structure supported by positive air pressure, it required 250,000 ft³/min (120 m³/s) of air to keep it inflated.
 The air pressure was supplied by twenty 90-horsepower fans.
 The roof was made of two layers: the outer layers were Teflon-coated fiberglass and the inner was a proprietary acoustical fabric. By design, the dead air space between the layers insulated the roof;
in winter, warm air was blown into the space between layers to help melt snow that had accumulated on top.
 The entire roof weighed roughly 580,000 pounds. It reached 195 feet (59 m), or about 16 stories, at its highest point
 To maintain the differential air pressure, spectators usually entered and left the seating and concourse areas through revolving doors, since the use of regular doors without an airlock would have
caused significant loss of air pressure. The double-walled construction allowed warmed air to circulate beneath the top of the dome,

PRAGATHI MAIDAN , DELHI

 It constitutes a central hall with a 44m span and height of 22m

 It is supported on 8 hollow circular shaft by columns of 3.4m diameter
 It is placed at the vertices of an unequal but symmetrical octagon
 The structure is cast in – situ RCC and founded on 408 driven cast in –situ concrete piles of 50cm diameter
 Approximately 4380 cubes of structural concrete of various grades and 750m of reinforcing steel have been used in the construction
 Octahedran measuring 5m from joint to joint were employed as the basic 3D unit of the space frame, which stressed on 8 points around the essentially square planned and allows 11m wide
openings between the support
 An effective system of environmental control inside the building was an outcome of the building structure ,as solid triangular panels at regular intervals provide sunscreen
