HOLIDAY ASSIGNMENT

YES! A holiday is supposed to be a break from studies, explanations and completing tasks.
But are holidays supposed to make us irresponsible kids?
So we're going to take up certain responsibilities and also enjoy our holidays with our families.

1. READ BOOKS in ENGLISH and HINDI. Books are your best friends. List out the books you have read in
your English and Hindi notebooks e.g. A) Name of the Book, Author / Writer / Price / Publisher B) Front
& Back Page details you noticed C) Write what the character(s) / things / incident you liked the most &
why (Express in around 80 – 100 words) D) Write any 5 life skills you learnt from the book.

2. IMPROVE YOUR WRITING


Write 1 page of Hindi and 1 page of English every alternate day, and when you're back to school after
the holidays, your handwriting will be the envy of your classmates! We would love to see your writing
practice notebook when you come back.

3. WALK TOGETHER
Go for walks with the family. You will realize you have 2 of God's greatest gifts…. NATURE and your
FAMILY. Do not forget to thank GOD for these gifts.

4. CULTIVATE MANNERS
Remember the 4 magic words? PLEASE, THANK YOU, SORRY and EXCUSE ME. Make these a part
of your personality.

5. PLAY OUTDOOR GAMES


Computer games are good. They sharpen your intellect, but what about the rest of your body? You do
need some exercise, don't you?
Go Cycling, play Badminton, Cricket, Kho-Kho, Catch, Hide n' Seek …… anything that will make you
run.

6. CARE AND CONCERN


This is your chance to look after your parents, grandparents, elders and even your younger brothers and
sisters. You can surely be of some help around the house.

7. REVISE all work done in class, in English, Hindi and EVS. Practice Math and learn your tables.

Monuments are an integral part of India's heritage. They represent great achievements in
art and architecture. They represent life, death, success, and struggle. They have become
as important to society as the events they represent. They bring history alive to new
generations and memories to those who experience them firsthand. Monuments create a
bridge between generations. The monuments in Jaipur reflect a true picture of
architectural excellence.
ENGLISH
Write an autobiography of a monument built in Jaipur by one of the Maharajas of Jaipur.
Paste or draw a picture of the monument. Use A4 size sheets. (File)

MATHEMATICS
A group comprising 26 Indian citizens, 24 visitors from SAARC countries, 19 other foreign
visitors and 10 students below 15 years of age, visit Amber Fort on 25th May 2017. The
entrance fees for visiting the monument is as follows:

• `10 per head for Indian citizens and visitors from SAARC countries.
• US $5 per head for other foreign visitors
• No charges for children upto 15 years.
During the visit, following behaviour was noticed among the students below 15 years of
age:
i) Rahul scribbles on the walls of the tomb.
ii) Wasim helps a foreign visitor.
iii) Sonu picks up the garbage and throws in the dustbin.
iv) John throws the wrappers and bottles in the garden.
v) Neha spits in the premises.
vi) Rajni shouts inside the monument.
vii) Ricky and Micky help in watering the plants inside the premises.

Now answer the following questions:


Q. 1. Find the exchange rate of US $1 in Indian Rupees as on 25th May 2017.
Q. 2. Calculate the total money that the group has to pay as entrance fees.
Q. 3. What fraction of the total money is paid by:
1) The Indian citizens
2) The visitors from SAARC countries
3) Other foreign visitors
Q. 4. Students below the age of 15 years were given instructions that (+5) points will be
awarded to a student if his action is for the betterment of the monument and (-2)
points will be given if the action is such that it harms the beauty of the monument.
Calculate the positive, negative and total points scored by the group of students.
Prepare a File.
SCIENCE
A. With the help of data collected from local newspapers or television, prepare a table
depicting the minimum and maximum temperature and humidity levels in Jaipur from
June 1, 2017, to June 15, 2017 in a creative manner.
B. Identify and describe any 2 measures adopted by Jaipur rulers/kings to maintain
suitable temperatures in their monuments/forts or keep them cool. Prepare a File.
SOCIAL SCIENCES
Paste or draw pictures of any five monuments built by rulers of Jaipur. Write 10 lines about
each monument- its history and the architectural style.
Prepare a Poster on A3 size sheet for “Do’s and Don’ts” are to be followed during a visit to
such places.

COMPUTER
Make a PowerPoint Presentation on any one monument of Jaipur. (Around 10 slides)
Following should be included:
1. Presentation should have WordArt.
2. Insert pictures with effects
3. Use custom Animation.
4. Use formatting options like page border, background styles etc.
