WINDING WIRES

Winding wire is an important constituent of practically every type of electrical product.  The variety of winding
wires has grown from simple oleoresinous enamel coated to coatings like polyester, polyesterimide,
polyurethane, single and dual coated and also PVC.  ERDA is actively involved in testing, evaluation and
investigation of all types of winding wires as well as raw materials.  Relevant R&D activities accompany the
regular testing activities. 

Test Facilities 

Raw materials that are tested include:

Further, the quality of enamelled wires is tested by conducting long term ageing test as per IEC:60216 and IS:
5825. For enamelled wires determination of tip up temperature by measuring tan delta at various temperatures
after impregnation and accelerated ageing tests is also done.

Certification 

The test facilities for winding wires at ERDA are recognised by BIS for its marking scheme and also accredited
by NABL, Govt. of India.
