INTRODUCTION

Plastic is one of the recent engineering materials which have appeared in the market all over the

world. It is materials consisting of a wide range of synthetic or semi-synthetic and can be molded into

solid.By definition plastic can be made to different shapes when they are heated.Plastic exist in different

forms and they become a waste materials.Accumulation of such waste can result into hazardous effects

to both human and plant life.Plastic waste is increasing day by day throughout the world where proper

collection is not available.Waste plastic are strewn everywhere which becomes eyesore. It also pollutes

the environment.A large of waste plastic are discarded or burned which leads to contamination of

environment and air.The volume of plastic waste is rapidly increasing because of the demand growing

population on top of that the environment regulations become more restrictive. Therefore alternative

methods to manage and utilise these waste have to determined.

Ash is the residue powder left after the combustion of charcoal or woods such as burning wood in a

home fireplace or an industrial power plant. Many studies have been conducted regarding the chemical

composition of the ash from the charcoal with the varyong results. The ash from the charcoal contain

calcuim carbonae and calcuim oxide which lead to the contamination of soil. When the ashes exposed to

the environment between combustion and oxides it may convert back to carbonates by reacting carbon

dioxide which can cause of pollution.

The population is increasing rapidly and new establishments are being made for everybody's

need.Human oversue the resources left to build houses, subdivisions and cities in order to accomodate as

many as possible. Bricks are a widely used as construction and building material around the world.Bricks

are produced from gravel but in many areas of the world, there is already a shortage of natural source

material for production of the conventional bricks.

Therefore we come up to this study of using the plastic waste and the ashes from the charcoal in

the production of concrete bricks. It not only fix the housing problem it can also lessen the problem in

plastic waste. The purpose of this study is to take advantage to the waste material that can cause

problem in the environment and to replace the costly and rare concrete bricks.

II.STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study seek to find answers to the following questions:

1.Is the plastic and ashes have the capability to produce concrete bricks?

2.What components makes the plastic and ash in replacing gravel to produce concrete bricks?

3. Is there a significant difference in using plastic and ash as an alternative material for gravel in the

production of concrete bricks in terms of:

a.Strength

b.porosity

c.compressibility

III.STATEMENT OF THE HYPOTHESIS

There is no significant diffence of using plastic and ash as an alternative material for gravel in the

production of concrete bricks in terms of:

a.strenght

b.porosity
c.compressibility

IV.GENERAL OBJECTIVES

The main objective of this study is to produce a concrete bricks made up of platic and ash.

V.SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

Specifically this study tries to accomplish the following objectives:

1.Identify the properties of plastic and ash that makes it to produce a concrete bricks.

2.Determine if the plastic and ash can make a concrete bricks

3.Test the

VI.SCOPE AND LIMITATION

This study will only focus on the production of concrete bricks. As we all know plastic waste and ashes

from the charcoal contibute to the environmental problem. They're just buried or let be decomposed in

its place. The researcher will use only a plastic and ash to be the alternative material for gravel. The

researcher will only test the strenght, porosity, and compressibility of the concrete bricks. This study focus

only in making concrete bricks and not a building materials used in building establishments.

VII.SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

This study will lessen the problem in composi
